Tamil Nadu Agriculture University (TNAU): Courses, Fees, Eligibility, Placements, Scholarships

TNAU Coimbatore is one of the best institutions for students who wish to choose agriculture as their field of study. The university was ranked 8th by ICAR in 2020 amongst the 67 agricultural institutions in India, and it was given the 2nd position by NIRF among the State Agricultural Universities.

The university comprises four reputed colleges namely:

Agricultural College and Research Institute, Horticultural College and area search Institute, Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute and School of Postgraduate Studies.

A total of 59 courses(UG, PG and PhD) are offered by the University. The university has a fine network with the deemed national and international colleges providing a good opportunity of Student Exchange Programs to the students.

The University offers UG specializations in Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Horticulture, Floriculture and Biotechnology.

TNAU Scholarships

For students seeking to apply for UG courses, the following options are available to get scholarships:

  • Adi Dravida welfare scholarships
  • Central Government scholarships
  • State Government free education for student from a non-graduate family
  • Periyar Endowment scholarships and fellowships
  • Scholarships from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi and other agencies are available for the benefit of deserving enrolled candidates.

These scholarships may differ according to the degree/college to which candidates are admitted and respective funding agencies.

For PG and doctoral courses, The university supports the students by offering TNAU Merit Scholarship, TNAU research assistantship for PhD students, Vice chancellor’s Fellowship for excellence in research for PhD students and Dr A.P.J.Abdul Kalam Fellowship for PDF are available.

Ques. When will TNAU conduct entrance exams for Masters?

Ans: The college generally conducts entrance exams in the month of June for admission in the Masters degree, but this year due to the pandemic the process might get delayedand is expected to be conducted sometime around July/August.

Ques. Is the sports quota available for admission in TNAU?

Ans: Yes, the college releases a set of sports categories every year for students willing to take admissions on the basis of sports quota A separate rank list for applicants having sports quota is released by the university. For example this year the college will take sports categories such as: Cricket, Badminton, table tennis, etc.

Ques. If I’m not a native of Tamil Nadu, will I get admission in any UG course in TNAU?

Ans: Unfortunately the college does not accept admissions of students who are not native students of Tamil Nadu and are therefore not eligible to get admission in the UG courses. However, if you are not a resident of Tamil Nadu you apply to TNAU Coimbatore for masters courses.

If you have been staying in Tamil Nadu, please manage to get a domicile certificate before the admission process starts.
