SVNIRTAR (Swami Vivekanand National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research) is an Autonomous body affiliated to Utkal University which is under the DIVYANGJAN (Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. The institution provides total medical rehabilitation for people with Locomotor Disabilities. It was established in 1975 in olatar village which is 30km away from the city of Cuttack.

There are three bachelor degree courses provided by the institute namely Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Prosthetics and Orthotics and postgraduate degree for the same.

For admission into this college,the university tends to take enterance exam namely CET and PGET, CET for Undergraduate admission and PGET for Postgraduates.

SVNIRTAR Cuttack Admission

Admissions for Swami Vivekanand National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research for all the courses(UG and PG)are conducted through entrance exams namely CET and PGET. These exams are conducted once in a year. Students are to appear for the entrance exams after they have completed the previous qualifying exams. Students appearing for the final examinations are also able to apply for the entrance examination, provided they have to show the mark sheet of the qualifying exam at the time of admissions.

The college has 14 faculty members and out of the 14 5 are GDMOs,1 anesthesiast cum lecturer.There are HODs- 1 HOD for physiotherapy,2 assistant professor and 4 lecturers.There are nearly 174 staff who provide service in SVNIRTAR.Most of the Faculties are Ph.D. holders. They are all qualified in the subject of their expertise and ensure the smooth running of the institution. There are HOD for each department existing and a large number of faculties to support them.

If the student is willing to do internship elsewhere,the student has to get the permission from the Institute and if the permission is granted he/she is allowed to do the internship only at recognised rehabilitation centres.SVNIRTAR itself encourages the students for wider exposure and sends the student to rural rehabilitation center.Interns also posted at District Disability Rehabilitation Centres (DDRCs) set up by the Institute itself.
