SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) is a deemed university located in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu. The institute came into existence in 1985 as SRM Engineering College in Kattankulathur, under university of Madras and at present is one of the finest universities for pursuing B.Tech course. SRM Institute: B.Tech Admissions Through JEE Main

Admission to Engineering and other management courses at SRM Institute is offered based on the candidates’ performance in university-conducted SRMJEEE and SRMJEEM exams, respectively. Candidates planning to apply for B.Tech courses are considered based on JEE ranks.

Eligibility for B.Tech

• Candidates must have a GCE A-level or International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma or IB certificate with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as major subjects (equivalent to advanced placement level in each subject) in any international schools within India
• Candidates must give the JEE Main exam and get a good rank to get considered further.
• Eligibility for B.Tech in biotechnology: Candidates must have cleared Class 12 with at least 50% in Physics, Chemistry, Maths/ Biology/ Biotechnology as or appearing in Class 12 in the current academic year with PCM as major subjects.

There is a separate department at SRMIST that takes care of the placement activities. Several top and renowned companies took part in the placements drive each year to select the most deserving graduates.

Scholarships Offered by SRM Institute

SRM Institute of Science and Technology grants many scholarships, fee waiver schemes, teaching and research assistance to meritorious and qualifying students. Many students take the advantage of such schemes offered here.

• In 2017 – 2018, close to 2650 students received scholarships worth INR 28.9 crores from the institute.
• Founder’s Scholarship for B.Tech students only. Students who ranked SRMJEEE Rank 1 – 100, get 100% tuition and hostel fee waiver.
• SRM Merit Scholarship for B.Tech students only. The scholarships are awarded at the time of admission, selected students to get 100% tuition fee waiver.
• Students planning to take admission here can apply for the scholarships, in case they meet the minimum eligibility criteria and require financial assistance.
• Online applications for the award of the scholarship will be made available in June/July each year and the final decision is taken by the scholarship committee and the selection of awardees will be done by a committee consisting of SRM Institute of Science and Technology officials and invited academicians from several other Universities.
