The Samundra Institute of Maritime Studies is one the premier institutes of marine engineering and navigation in India. It is a private institution established in 2005 by the Executive Ship Management Private Limited, Singapore. The institute is affiliated to Indian Maritime University, Chennai. It is recognised by the Directorate General of Shipping, Government of India.

The institute offers UG, PG and Diploma courses under the category of Pre-Sea, Post-Sea and Offshore. The campus of the institute is a high-tech one with strong wi-fi connections and world class infrastructures. It is spread over 50 acres of land which was designed by renowned and award-winning architect Christopher Charles Benninger.   • Eligibility- 10+2, Minimum Aggregate percentage- 60%,
  • Minimum PCM Aggregate- 60%, Must Pass IMU-CET, Eyesight must be 6/6 in better eye and 6/9 in other eye (use of corrective lenses is not allowed).

Graduate Marine Engineering
  • Duration- 1 year
  • Total Fees- ₹ 5.40 lacs approx.
  • Eligibility- Graduation in BE(Mechanical Engineering), Eyesight must be 6/12 in each eye or 6/9 in the better eye and 6/18 in the other eye (use of corrective lens is permitted).

B.Tech (Marine Engineering)
  • Duration- 4 years
  • Total Fees- ₹ 16 Lacs approx.
  • Eligibility- Minimum Aggregate Percentage – 60%,
  • Minimum PCM Aggregate- 60%, Must Pass IMU-CET, Eyesight must be 6/6 in better eye and 6/9 in other eye (use of corrective lenses is not allowed).

Electro Technical Officer
  • Duration- 1 year
  • Total Fees- ₹ 4 lacs approx.
  • Eligibility- Graduation in Engineering with minimum marks of 55% in final year, Eyesight must be 6/12 in each eye or 6/9 in the better eye and 6/18 in the other eye (use of corrective lens is permitted).

B.Tech (Marine Engineering) {Lateral}
  • Duration- 3 years
  • Total Fees- ₹13.5 Lacs Approx.
  • Eligibility- Minimum Aggregate Percentage- 60%,

The institute gives 100% placement to the students who complete the courses successfully. SIMS is sponsored by Executive Ship Management Private Limited, Singapore and the company is also the biggest recruiter of the institute. The salary offered at first is approximately 12,000 US dollars and it increases after every year. So, if a student completes the admitted program successfully, there is no need to worry about placement as it’s guaranteed by the SIMS.

SIMS Mumbai Scholarships

Samundra Institute of Maritime Studies offers financial aid in the form of scholarships and cash awards. The institute offers scholarships to the financially weak students. Candidates have to appear in an online test first and then give an interview to a selection board of the institute to get selected for the scholarship.

Cash Award Scheme: The institute organises an All India level Examination. Students of Class 11 and 12 from selected schools are eligible to appear in this examination. Those who score good marks in the examination are awarded with cash.

Loan Assistance: Students who want to take study loans from banks are also assisted by the institute at the time of admission. A student can get from 50-60% to even 100% study loan from a bank. Candidates willing to take a study loan can contact the admission team.
