Various states conduct admissions to engineering courses based on the Class 12th scores. Read ahead to find out which are the states giving direct admissions to B.Tech courses.

While the admission process for most colleges is based on the ranks secured by the candidates in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), there are a few state universities that give direct admissions based on Class 12th percentage. As getting a good score in the entrance exams as well as Class 12th board exams both is a tough job, a lot of students manage to ace only one. For such students who get a good percentage in Class 12th board exams, various states have a provision for the state universities to grant admission to B.Tech programs based on the percentage secured by students in Class 12th.

Rajasthan Engineering Admission Process (REAP)

Rajasthan Engineering Admission Process is conducted by the Centre for Electronic Governance (CEG). To be eligible for admission through REAP, candidates should have passed Class 12th or equivalent examination from Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE), Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) or any other recognized board of education. The minimum percentage required in Class 12th is 45%. This is reduced to 40% for reserved classes. The next mandatory criteria is for the candidates to have studied Physics and Mathematics along with any one subject from the list given below:

  • Biotechnology
  • Chemistry
  • Biology
  • Business Studies
  • Technical Vocational Subject
  • Information Technology
  • Computer Science
  • Engineering Graphics
  • Agriculture
  • Computer Science
  • Informatics Practices

Students who have completed Diploma in Engineering are also eligible to apply for admission to B.Tech programs through REAP.

Punjab B.Tech Admission

Punjab B.Tech Admission process is conducted by the IK Gujral Technical University, Jalandhar. The admissions are conducted on the basis of Class XII scores, Diploma in Engineering as well as JEE Main scores. Studying Physics and Mathematics in Class XII is a necessary prerequisite. They must also have studied one of the following subjects as optional subjects:

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Computer Science
  • Biotechnology

At the time of filling the application, candidates will have to apply either through Class XII marks or through JEE Main scores. Candidates applying through JEE Main are required to have a valid scorecard.

Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA)

Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions are conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE). Passing class 12th with at least 45% marks in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry is necessary for getting admission to B.Tech courses through the process of TNEA. The minimum percentage required for candidates belonging to reserved categories is 40%.

Madhya Pradesh BE/B.Tech Admission

Madhya Pradesh B.E./ B.Tech admission process is conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), Madhya Pradesh. Admissions to Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) as well as Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) are conducted through this process on the basis of Class XII marks or JEE Main results. Candidates must secure at least 45% marks in Class 12th from Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education or any other recognized board. Candidates belonging to reserved categories are required to secure at least 40% marks. Having Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects in Class 12th is a mandatory requirement. Candidates must also have any one of the given subjects as optional subject:

  • Biology
  • Biotechnology
  • Chemistry
  • Computer Science

Students applying through JEE Main scores are required to have a JEE Main scorecard with a non-zero positive score.
