NIT Andhra Pradesh was established in 2015-2016. It is amongst the new NITs managed under the ownership of the Government of India. Also, the institute has gained recognition as an Institute of National Importance.

NIT Andhra Pradesh: B.Tech Admissions via JEE Main
Admissions for B.Tech programs offered at NIT Andhra Pradesh are granted according to the applicant’s overall performance in the JEE Main exam. JoSAA Counselling will also be conducted to shortlist the candidates. Total intake for B.Tech courses is 480.

Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech Courses
- The candidates who want to do the B.Tech course at NIT Andhra Pradesh must take JEE Main exam. They need to get a minimum of 75% marks at 10+2 level. For SC/ST students, the minimum aggregate is 65%.
- However, for 2021 admissions, candidates are only required to pass Class XII.

Academics at NIT-AP During COVID-19
In a major incentive for the students whose studies are affected amid the lockdown and coronavirus pandemic, NIT Andhra Pradesh has decided to promote students to the next level by checking their performance through NIT examinations.
- The exams of 25 marks were conducted online during the lockdown.
- According to NIT Director CSP Rao, the online exams were conducted with a new test formula using modern technology so there are no chances of cheating in the examinations.
- The students who were not able to attend the online examinations will be given an opportunity to write the examination for 50 marks, once the institute reopens post the lockdown.

NIT Andhra Pradesh Reservations
National Institute of Technology Andhra Pradesh follows the reservation criteria mentioned by the government of India. Joint Seat Allocation Authority publishes the seat matrix for the several institutions for the academic year at its official website. The seat reservation criteria are as per JoSAA Rules and Government of India laws. 50% of the total seats are booked for the candidates from the state of Andhra Pradesh while the remaining seats are for the candidates from other states. Other than this, the reservation criteria at NIT-AP is given below-

NIT Andhra Pradesh Scholarships
NIT Andhra Pradesh does not grant any direct scholarships to students. However, the college has an SC/ST Cell to help students avail financial assistance. Among various scholarships, Rajshri Shahu Maharaj Merit Scholarship is for the SC/ST students. This scholarship is offered by the government of Maharashtra, under this scholarship, all tuition fee will be waived off for the qualifying students. Some other important scholarships in which NIT-AP assists students are-
- National Scholarship Portal – The scholarship provided directly by the central government to students with a weak financial background or students coming from minority communities. Full reimbursement of tuition fee is available through these scholarships.
- Government of Andhra Pradesh ePass – The scholarships provided by the Andhra government to all the eligible students.
- Government of Telangana ePass – Students of Telangana can avail scholarships through this portal and avail reimbursement of complete tuition fees and other charges to be paid at NIT-AP.
