NIT Goa Admission 2021: Courses, Dates, Eligibility, Cutoff, Selection, Application Process

National Institute of Technology (NIT), Goa was established in 2010 and has been ranked 77 by NIRF 2020.

It offers B.Tech in 5 specialisation, M.Tech in 5 specialisation, and Ph.D. courses in the field of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), and Electrical and Electronics Engineering etc.

The admissions to B.Tech and M.Tech courses are done by JEE Mains and GATE respectively. However, the candidates must qualify UGC Net to secure admission in Ph.D. programs.

The highest rank set in the previous year (2020) was 35,494 by the Civil Engineering department. The lowest rank was set by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering as 10,323.

The institute offers a 100% placement rate. In the session 2019-2020, the maximum pay package offered to the students was INR 15.9 Lakhs. The average pay package for the session was approximately INR 7.35 Lakhs.

The admission fee for the general category students for the B.Tech program in the institute is INR 77,000 per semester. However, the general category candidates applying to the M.Tech program are required to pay INR 50, 200 per semester.

NIT Goa has not announced the details of admission for the undergraduate and postgraduate courses as of yet. Last year the application form was made available in August. It is expected that this year too the application form would be released around the mentioned date.

What’s new at NIT Goa?

  • The institute is calling for papers/case studies for a two-day international conference on sustainable learning. The event will be held on 5th and 6th June 2021. The deadline for registration is 30th May 2021.
  • The institute has declared the results of M.Tech (semester 1) and Ph.D. coursework results. The candidates can check the same from the official website of the college.
  • The institute has decided to continue the online teaching and learning process for the rest of the semester. Till further notice, the faculties are requested to follow the same protocols.

Important Dates

B.Tech and M.Tech admission in NIT Goad is based on the rank held in JEE Main ang GATE exam respectively. Due ti COVID19 situation JEE Main has been postponed. JEE Main admission counselling is conducted by JoSAA which is postponed also. Dates are not declared yet. Admission in PhD courses are done by score obtained in GATE/CSIR/NBHM/UGC-NET exam.

NIT Goa has not released the details of admission as of yet. However, it is expected that the institute will make available the application form following the dates of admission through GATE and JEE exam.

NIT Goa B.Tech Admission Criteria 2021

The institute offers B.Tech in 5 specializations such as Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

  • Admissions are also granted through CSAB counseling for special rounds.
  • NIT Goa offers admission based on Home State Quota for 50% seats and the rest 50% will be filled by the Other State Quota Policy.
  • Candidates selected in JoSAA 2021 will be required to register at the NIT Goa online portal from where it can only register after “FREEZE/ SLIDE” the seat at NIT Goa.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The candidates are required to secure qualifying marks in JEE (Mains).
  • Candidates must qualify 10+2 examinations with 75% marks in aggregate with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as main subjects from any recognised board. Top 20% of the respective board will be given preference.

Selection Criteria

  • The candidates are required to qualify for JEE (Mains).
  • JOSAA will conduct the counseling process for qualified students.
  • After the declaration of JEE (Mains) result, JOSAA will declare the opening and closing ranks of each stream.
  • The candidates meeting the cut-off would be able to secure admissions to the institute.

Semester fees of B.Tech in NIT Goa

The fees for the B.Tech program for general category students is INR 77,700 for each semester. However, the students belonging to SC/ST/PH category are required to deposit INR 13,200 each semester.

How to apply for a B.Tech. program in NIT Goa?

Candidates appear in JoSAA 2021 will be required to register at the NIT Goa online portal. Candidates can only register after “FREEZE/ SLIDE” the seat at NIT Goa by the following steps.

  • The candidates are required to visit the official website of JEE (Mains).
  • Register for the entrance exam before the deadline.
  • Fill the registration form.
  • Submit the required documents.
  • Pay the application fee.
  • After the declaration of the result of counselling confirmed NIT Goa as the preferred institute.

NIT Goa M.Tech Admission Criteria 2021

NIT Goa offers M.Tech in 3 specializations namely such as Computer Science and Engineering, VLSI, and Power Electronics and Power Systems.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The candidates are required to secure qualifying marks in GATE.
  • Candidates must qualify B.E/B.Tech with at least 6.5 CGPA or 60% for OC/OC-EW/OB. SC/ST/PwD candidates can qualify B.E/B.Tech with 6.0 CGPA or 55%.

Selection Criteria

  • The candidates are required to qualify for GATE.
  • CCMT will conduct the counseling process for qualified students.
  • Merit will be prepared by CCMT.
  • The candidates meeting the merit would be able to secure admissions to the institute.

Online seat allotment Process

In CCMT-2021 three regular rounds (Round 1, Round 2 and Round 3) of seat allotment will be there with a mop-up round called National Spot Round (NSR). Candidates can secure a seat in the CCMT 2021 counselling by one of the following way:

  2. Sliding
  3. Freezing

How to apply for an M.Tech program in NIT Goa?

Candidates must appear in CCMT counselling 2021 for admission in M.Tech program. Application fees for OC/OC-EW/OB candidate is INR 2,500 and for SC/ST/PwD candidate is INR 2000. Steps of application are mentioned below:

  • The candidates are required to visit the official website of CCMT after the declaration of results of GATE.
  • The candidates are required to fill the registration form.
  • Fill the choice filling form afterward.
  • Lock the choices with the specified date.
  • The seats will be allocated in the order of merit.
  • Pay the acceptance fee.

NIT Goa PhD Admission Criteria 2021

The institute offers Ph.D. programs in various departments such as Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Department of Applied Sciences, and Department of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Eligibility Criteria

  • For Ph.D. in Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering the candidates are required to secure at least 6.5 CGPA in the relevant discipline or 60% in M.E. or M.Tech. program in a relevant discipline. The candidates belonging to SC/ST category are required to secure at least 6.0 CGPA in the relevant discipline or 55% in the undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.
  • For Ph.D. in Department of Applied Sciences, and Department of Humanities and Social Sciences the candidates are required to secure at least 6.5 CGPA in the relevant discipline or 60% in Master’s degree in Sciences or Humanities or M. Tech. in a relevant specialization. The candidates belonging to SC/ST category are required to secure at least 6.0 CGPA in the relevant discipline or 55% in the undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

How to apply for a PhD program in NIT Goa?

  • The candidates are required to fill the application form online from the official website of NIT Goa i.e www.nitgao.ac.in.
  • The candidate must attach a crossed demand draft (INR 500 for General and OBC, INR 300 for SC/ST candidates)
  • The Demand Draft should be drawn in favor of “Director NIT Goa ” payable at Ponda, Goa.
