Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University [MAFSU] Nagpur: Dates, Eligibility, Selection Criteria, Application Process

Maharashtra Animal & Fishery Sciences University (MAFSU) was established in 2000 in Nagpur, Maharashtra. It has been recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). There are 6 Veterinary colleges, 2 Fishery colleges, 2 Dairy Technology colleges, and one Wildlife Research and Training Centre under MAFSU.

The admission process for the Ph.D. Degree Course in the Faculty of Veterinary & Animal Sciences for 2020-2021 was halted temporarily in light of the pandemic situation but had been restarted on May 11, 2021. The online application for the Ph.D. Degree course 2020-2021 has ended on May 25, 2021. The online applications received before this period are still valid. It was available earlier since February 18, 2021. The final list of students who are eligible for the entrance examination will be available on June 10. 2021, and the entrance examination itself will be held on June 13, 2021. The candidates with deficient documents will be notified on May 28, following which they must upload the deficient documents by June 1, 2021.

Selection for PG courses for 2020-2021 will be on the basis of performance in ICAR AIEEA.

Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry Admission

The Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry is a 5 years-long course at the Undergraduate Level.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates who have passed Class 12 or equivalent with at least 50% marks individually in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology, and English.
  • Candidates must have also appeared for the NEET (UG) conducted by National Testing Agency, New Delhi, to be eligible for admission.

Selection Criteria

Selection for B.V.Sc & A.H. is based on marks obtained in NEET-UG. A total of 289 seats are available.

Bachelor of Fisheries Science Admission

The Bachelor of Fisheries Science is a 4 years-long course at the Undergraduate level.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates who have passed 10 + 2 examination with, 50% marks for Unreserved categories, and 40% marks for Reserved categories, in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English taken together are eligible for admission to B.F.Sc. Degree Course.
  • The candidates should have also appeared for MHT-CET conducted by State CET Cell, Mumbai.

Selection Criteria

Selection for B.F.Sc. is based on marks obtained in MHT-CET. A total of 72 seats are available.

The Master of Veterinary Science is a 2 years-long course at the Postgraduate level.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The candidates must have passed B.V.Sc. & A.H. with CGPA of 6.00 for Unreserved categories and 5.50 for Constitutionally Reserved categories in 10.00-point scale to be eligible for admission to M.V.Sc. Degree Course.
  • Candidates who have appeared for All India Entrance Examination (AIEEA) conducted by National Testing Agency, New Delhi are also eligible for admission to M.V.Sc. degree course.

Selection Criteria

Selection is based on the marks obtained in the entrance examination conducted by ICAR, as well as interviews conducted by the University. There are a total of 216 seats.

Ph.D Admission

The Ph.D. Degree Course in the Faculty of Veterinary & Animal Sciences is of 3 years-long spanning six consecutive semesters for regular candidates as well as for those availing study leave. The medium of instructions & examination is English.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates having a minimum of 6.50 CGPA for Unreserved categories and 7.00 CGPA for Reserved categories on a 10.00-point scale at M.V.Sc. or equivalent degree in the concerned subject(s) are eligible to appear for entrance test for admission to Ph.D. Degree Course.
  • The candidate securing a minimum of 50% marks for Unreserved category and 40% marks for Reserved Category, in Entrance Test (written examination & interview taken together) are eligible for admission to Ph.D. degree course

  • Performance in M.V.Sc
  • The University conducts an entrance examination, followed by an interview.

Ans. The university has separate hostels for boys and girls. 50% of the seats are reserved for boys and 50% for girls. The hostel has food and recreation facilities for students.
