Madras Institute of Technology [MIT], Chennai Admission 2021: Dates, Eligibility, Selection Criteria, Application Process

Madras Institute of Technology, Chennai is the first institution to offer courses like Aeronautical engineering, Automobile engineering and Electronics engineering and Instrument Technology in India . The institute was affiliated with Anna University in 1978. The institute has not only been appreciated for its excellence across the nation, but also earned repute internationally. The institution has produced great celebrated scientists like Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam.

Candidates aspiring to seek admission in MIT are required to have some knowledge or proficiency in the desired subject. The candidate is also required to appear for Common Entrance Test held nationally or by the University itself.

B.TECH

Specialisation : Information Technology, Rubber and plastic technology.

Eligibility criteria

Candidates applying for the respective course should adhere to the following criteria:

  1. Passed 10+2 examination, academic stream prescribed by the government of Tamil Nadu with Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry as subjects of study. OR any equivalent examination approved by the Syndicate of the Anna University.
  2. Should not have completed 21 years of age while applying. A relaxation of 3 years in the age limit is provided to those belonging to the SC/ST/OBC.
  3. Marks, number of attempts, physical fitness shall be as prescribed by the Syndicate of the Anna University.

Selection criteria:

Selection will be strictly based on merit. Students willing to take admission in MIT must appear for the entrance examinations held at the national or state level, like:

  1. JEE MAIN
  2. GATE
  3. TNEA
  4. TANCET
  5. UGC NET
  6. CSIR NET

Cut off:

Madras institute of Technology selects candidates on the basis of the TNEA ( Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission) entrance examination.

  2. Candidates must have minimum knowledge in the desired area of study prescribed by the Syndicate of Anna university.
  3. Conditions prescribed by the Anna University must be met by the part time candidates. Candidates seeking admission for part time courses must have their permanent work place within a distance of 90km from the main campus of the institution.
  4. Marks, number of attempts, physical fitness shall be as prescribed by the Syndicate of the Anna University.

Selection criteria

  1. Candidates are required to appear for TANCET ( Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test) or GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) examination.
  2. Candidates will be selected on the basis of merit , in the counselling process.
