JoSAA Counselling 2020 Round 1 Seat Allotment To Release Soon Check Details

Depending on the All India Ranks (AIRs), many students will bag seats in top-tier IITs and many will grab seats in top NITs through JoSAA Counselling 2020. The Round 1 Seat Allotment Result of JoSAA Counselling will be announced on 17th October 2020. The counselling authority i.e. JoSAA will then also release the opening and closing ranks of Round 1 on the same day.

The last date to register for counselling in NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, IIEST (via JEE Main) or IITs (via JEE Advanced) is today i.e. 15th October 2020. Candidates who registered at the JoSAA portal will not be allowed to revise their preferences after 5 PM today.

To register or login at the JoSAA portal, candidates only need their JEE Main or Advanced Application Number and Password. JoSAA previously released the 1st Mock Seat Allotment and 2nd Mock Seat Allotment result for candidates to get an idea of expected final allotment.

  • Visit the official website of JoSAA i.e. josaa.nic.in
  • Click on the link for JoSAA Online Registration and Choice Filling 2020.
  • Enter your JEE Main/Advanced 2020 Application Number and Password.
  • Login and check your Final Seat Allotment Result for Round 1.

What are the Next Steps After Seat Allotment?

Once you are allocated a seat in one of the preferences provided during choice filling, you will get the following three options-

  1. Freeze – Use this option to confirm a seat and pay the seat acceptance fees.
  2. Float – This option allows a candidate to pay the seat acceptance fees but also opt for a better college or course in further rounds.
  3. Slide – Candidates can utilize this option if they only want a better course in the same institution allocated to them. Seat Acceptance fees can be paid here as well.

A Few Things To Note-

  • This time, document verification and all the other processes related to admission will be conducted online only. Candidates who are using the freeze option must keep their documents ready (given below).
  • Using the Freeze option will mean you will not be able to take part in further rounds of counselling i.e. Round 2 or further.
  • Float and Slide options are provided to those who have not been allocated their first preference.

Seat Acceptance Fees at JoSAA Portal

This year, the seat acceptance fees has been kept as provided below-

  • Open/OBC Category – INR 35,000
  • SC/ST/PwD Category – INR 15,000

The fees can be paid via SBI Net Banking, SBI Debit Cards or e-challan issued by SBI only. Do note that this fee will be adjusted during payment of the 1st Semester fee of the college that the student is admitted in.

JoSAA Counselling 2020: Second Mock Seat Allotment Released, Registrations End Tomorrow

JoSAA Counselling 2020

Based on revisions done by candidates till 13th October, JoSAA has released the second mock seat allotment results today i.e. 14th October 2020. This will be the last mock allotment of seats and candidates will be given one more opportunity to revise their choice of college and course till 15th October 5 PM.

After this, Round 1 Counselling results will be announced on 17th October. Candidates will be able to confirm their allotted seats by paying the seat acceptance fees.

Candidates who have registered on JoSAA portal can login again to check mock seat allotment.

  • Visit the official portal of JoSAA 2020 for registration and choice filling. Check here
  • Login using your Application Number and Password.
  • The mock allotment status will be displayed at the portal.
  • Save the mock allotment result as a PDF if required for future use.

Depending on the preferences provided by the candidates, JoSAA allocates seats proportionate to the admission cut off for colleges.

The last date to register at JoSAA portal will be tomorrow. Conclusion of registration and choice filling will then be followed by counselling process from Round 1 to Round 7.

JoSAA Counselling is conducted for all the participating colleges which includes – IITs, NITs, IIEST Shibpur, IIITs and CFTIs. A total of 110 colleges are taking part in JoSAA Counselling 2020.

Those who qualified JEE Main 2020 are eligible for admissions in NITs+ system and those who qualified JEE Advanced 2020 can take part in IITs admissions as well. The counselling for IITs will only be of six rounds this year due to long delay caused by COVID-19 pandemic and country-wide lockdown.

It is important to note that all the processes such as document uploading and verification, reporting to college and other formalities are being conducted online only this time to safeguard candidates from COVID-19. Previously, candidates were also required to report at respective colleges or reporting centres.

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority, which jointly conducts the counselling and admission procedure for IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs, has finally released the tentative schedule for JEE Main Counselling 2020 (or JoSAA Counselling 2020). Due to COVID-19, all the procedures will be conducted with online reporting of candidates.

JEE Main Counselling 2021: Procedure, Dates, JoSAA Cut Off (Previous Year), Reporting

JEE Main Counselling 2021 will commence after the declaration of JEE Advanced Result. It will tentatively start in August 2021. JEE Main Counselling is conducted through 4 processes – JoSAA Counselling, CSAB Special Rounds, CSAB NEUT Counselling and CSAB Supernumerary Rounds. The JoSAA Counselling 2021 will be conducted to admit students to 110 participating institutes. Only candidates securing qualifying JEE Main Cut Off Score will be eligible to participate in the JEE Main Counselling 2021. Note that CSAB SFTI Counselling is not conducted anymore due to low participation from SFTIs.

JEE Main Counselling 2021 Procedure

JEE Main counselling 2021 involves the following steps:

JEE Mains Counselling 2020

Step 1 – Online Registration

  1. Visit the official website.
  2. Click on the link of JoSAA.
  3. Login using JEE Main 2021 Application Number, Password and Security Pin.
  4. Next, go through the instructions and click on “I agree”.
  5. Then, fill in the necessary details on the JoSAA Counselling form.
  6. Select the declaration and submit.
  7. Lastly, verify the details mentioned and click on the “Confirm Registration” button.

Step 2 – Online Choice Filling and Locking

  1. Select the choice of JoSAA colleges and courses.
  2. Candidates can choose one of the following options from change/ edit/ delete their filled choices.
  3. Lock the choices before the last date.
  4. Choice locking can be done after each round of JEE Main Counselling 2021.

Step 3 – Seat Allotment

There are many factors on the basis of which JoSAA will allocate the highest possible seat to the candidates according to their choices. The factors on the basis they do this are:

  1. Candidate’s category (General, OBC-NCL, ST, etc.).
  2. All India Rank (AIR) in JEE Main 2021 Rank Lists.
  3. Also, seats available under different seat categories/ seat quotas for which candidates are eligible.
  4. Lastly, as per the order of choices by the candidates for different courses and institutes.

Step 4 – Payment of Fees and Seat Acceptance

Post the seat allotment, candidates will have to choose any one of the following options:

  1. Freeze: Candidates who are satisfied with the allotted seat and do not wish to participate in the seat allotment process, may choose this option.
  2. Float: Those who want to keep the allotted seat but wish to upgrade their seat, may choose this option.
  3. Slide: Those who want to keep the allotted seat in the same institute but wish to upgrade the course.
  4. Withdraw: Candidates who have allocated the seat but wish to withdraw the admission can withdraw the seat by reporting to the institute before the last date of seat allotment.

The JEE Main Counselling Fees can be paid through SBI Net Banking/ e-Challan. The seat acceptance fee is INR 35,000 for all the candidates. On the contrary, candidates belonging to SC / ST / PwD category will have to pay INR 15,000 as seat acceptance fee.

Class 12 and Equivalent Examinations

Exams that will be accepted for JEE Main counselling 2021 are as follows.

  • They must have given the final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by The Central or State Board recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) should organize the exam.
  • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a Board or University which has received recognition by the Association of Indian Universities.
  • Senior Secondary School Exam conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
  • Final examination of the two-year course of the National Defence Academy’s Joint Services Wing.
  • Any Public School, Board or University examination in India or in a foreign country which has received recognition as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the AIU.
  • H.S.C. vocational examination.
  • A diploma recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) or a State Board of Technical Education of at least 3 years duration can be taken into consideration.
  • Any General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London, Cambridge or Sri Lanka) of Advanced (A) level.
  • High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva will be considered.

JoSAA 2021 Seat Allotment in IIT

The rules for the seat allocation of different category students to specific courses are different. The details of those courses and student category are mentioned below:

DS (Defence Service) students

De-reservation of Unfilled category seats under JoSAA Counselling 2021-

  • In IITs, two seats will be allocated to DS category students.
  • He/she must be in the Common Rank List (CRL).
  • Such students will be included under their birth category along with the DS category.

Foreign Candidates

  • Foreign Candidates will be considered under the GEN category.
  • Also, they must be in the CRL. They are obligated to fulfil all the requirements of eligibility for the GEN category.
  • Seats allocated to them will have the provision of being supernumerary. This will be 10% of the total number of seats.
  • The foreign candidates will not be considered under JoSAA counselling.

Preparatory Courses

  • In case no more applicants in the CRL-PwD rank list have opted for it, unfilled OPEN-PwD seats will be allocated to applicants in the CRL-PwD preparatory rank list.
  • OBC-NCL-PwD seats that remain unfilled will be allocated to applicants in OBC-NCL-PwD preparatory rank list. This will happen if no more applicants in the OBC-NCL-PwD rank list have opted for it.
  • The SC-PwD seats that remain unfilled will be allocated to applicants in the SC-PwD preparatory rank list. This will happen in case no more applicants in the SC-PwD rank list have opted for it.
  • Unfilled ST-PwD seats will be allocated in the ST-PwD preparatory rank list.
  • SC seats remaining vacant will be allocated to applicants in the SC preparatory rank list.
  • The remaining unfilled ST seats will be allocated to applicants in the ST preparatory rank list. This will happen in case no more applicants in the ST rank list have opted for it.
  • Remaining OBC category seats will be de-reserved. Also, will be considered as OPEN category seats in every round of seat allocation.
  • Therefore, there will be no de-reservation for SC/ST category seats.

JEE Main 2021 Spot Counselling

  • There are vacant seats left even after the usual rounds of JEE Main counselling. Therefore, JoSAA conducts Spot Counselling for the allocation of such seats.
  • You do not have to register separately for the spot counselling round in JEE Main.
  • Any applicant appears for the spot counselling process if he/she were not allotted a seat.
  • Also, candidates who did not apply earlier for the usual rounds of allotment can appear for Spot Counselling.
  • But, candidates who have missed the registration for JEE Main Counselling earlier have to register for Spot Counselling.
  • Candidates applying fresh for the JEE Main Spot Counselling will have to lock the choices.
  • Additionally, they will have to make the payment of the fee before the last date.

CSAB NEUT 2021 Counselling is for admission of JEE Main 2021 qualified candidates in the participating institutes falling under the North Eastern States and Union Territories (NEUT).
