IIIT Kancheepuram Cut Off: JEE Main Opening and Closing Ranks

IIIT Kancheepuram offers 4 B.Tech courses, i.e., Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Smart Manufacturing. IIIT Kancheepuram Cut Off depends upon the number of candidates that applied for the exam, the difficulty of the paper, the number of candidates that gave the exam, seats available.

  • For all the B.Tech courses at IIIT Kancheepuram, a candidate is given admission only through the JEE Main exam.
  • Candidates have to score JEE Main rank within the IIIT Kancheepuram cut off rank, to be considered for admission.
  • IIIT Kancheepuram Cut Off is decided by JoSAA after conducting counseling and 7 rounds of seat allotment.
  • JoSAA Counselling for all the participating institutes will be conducted similarly and each university will have a different JEE Main cut off for different courses and categories.

JoSAA Counselling 2020 has been conducted successfully with under 6 rounds this year amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Counselling for seats in IITs was only up to these 6 rounds. Now, CSAB has released a list of vacant seats from JoSAA counselling from NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. Two special rounds of counselling will be conducted for admission to these seats. It will be called the CSAB 2020 Special Round.

The admission process will be similar to that in JoSAA Counselling 2020. Candidates have to register and fill up choices as per their preferences. The selection process will be based on the rank/score in JEE Main 2020 only.

CSAB 2020 Special Round Counselling ProcessCSAB 2020 Special Round

Previously, CSAB had also announced the complete schedule for CSAB 2020 Special Round Counselling. The counselling is open to all those candidates who either participated in JoSAA Counselling or did not participate. However, those who were allotted a seat through JoSAA and paid the seat acceptance fee along with reporting to college, cannot take part as their admission has already been completed.

After seat allotment, candidates will have the following 3 options under seat acceptance-

  • Freeze –To confirm a seat and pay seat acceptance fees
  • Float – To confirm a seat, pay seat acceptance but also get a better preference
  • Slide – To confirm a seat in a college, pay seat acceptance but get a better course in the same college if available.

Those who wish to surrender their seat can do so at the online CSAB portal. Registrations are now open at their official choice filling portal.

IITs 2020 Cut Off Ranks For B.Tech Civil Engineering (OR-CR)

Civil Engineering is a tough course for students of JEE Main but it also offers some really aspiring jobs all over the world. It gets even more competitive and luring when a student is getting a B.Tech Civil Engineering seat in an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).

Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has been conducting the joint counselling called JoSAA Counselling 2020 for various participating colleges namely – 23 IITs, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs and 29 GFTIs. So far, results upto Round 5 of Seat Allotment have been declared with tougher competition as many students have decided to study in India amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

What Do Opening and Closing Ranks Mean?

Opening and closing ranks in JoSAA are synonymous with College Cut Off Ranks. The All India Ranks that candidates of JEE Main and JEE Advanced score are basically the source of these opening ranks (OR) & closing ranks (CR).

Opening Rank – The rank at which the admissions open, or a rank at which the first seat was provided for a particular course. A higher opening rank can be interpreted as tough competition.

Closing Rank – The rank at which admissions close, or a rank at which the last seat was allotted for any particular course. A low closing rank means that the seat is comparatively easier to get.

As visible from the ranks above, Civil Engineering is a less preferred course by students. But closing ranks at some of the top IITs is still below 4,000 such as in IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi. Graduating in Civil Engineering could bag you a decent job offer upto 20 LPA or even more.

CSAB Counselling 2020: Schedule For Special Round Declared

The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) has released the official schedule for CSAB Special Round Counselling. CSAB conducts the counselling for vacant seats of JoSAA Counselling for candidates of JEE Main. Only seats in NITs, IIEST, IIITs and GFTIs are available in these special rounds. Vacant seats will be displayed on 16th November, soon after which registrations will start from 17th November 2020.

Other than the special rounds counselling, CSAB has also released the schedule for CSAB NEUT Counselling for Engineering, Architecture and Pharmacy courses in colleges of North-East and Union Territories. Last date for registration for CSAB NEUT is today i.e. 4th November 2020.

As given in the table above, candidates can exercise one of 4 options. Under the 1st option i.e. Seat Acceptance, candidates have 3 choices-

The dates are getting closer and students are getting their dreams fulfilled. Many students who have aspired for studying engineering courses from IITs or NITs are finally achieving what they deserved. After completion of 3 Rounds of counselling, JoSAA will declare the seat allotment result for Round 4 on 30th October 2020. Results for Round 1 to Round 3 have been declared in the past month with opening and closing ranks released soon after the results for all JoSAA Participating Institutions. Depending on the previous seat allotment, candidates can take the following choices from below-

As per the official statement from MNNIT Allahabad Director said that seats in MNNIT and IIITs have been fully allotted. There were only 209 seats left vacant in GFTIs after Round 3 results. Once the JoSAA Seat Allotment Results for Round 4 are declared, the process for round 5 will begin. Given below are deadlines for various activities-

Candidates who accept an allocated seat have to pay the seat acceptance fees. Further, they must upload the documents as requested by the college authorities. They must also ensure that queries raised by verification officers are responded to at the earliest.

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has declared the results for Round 2 of seat allotment today on 21st October 2020 for IITs, NITs, IIEST, IIITs and GFTIs. The candidates who were not allotted a seat in the 1st round of JoSAA Counselling 2020 might have been allotted a seat depending on their preferences in the 2nd round. Also, candidates who have chosen the slide or float option might have also been upgraded to a better ranking seat or course.

Opening and Closing Ranks (2020) for Round 1 Counselling Released By JoSAA; Check Details

The cut off ranks for admissions to various IITs, NITs, IIITs, IIEST, and other GFTIs – which are officially called opening ranks (OR) and closing ranks (CR) – have been released on the official website of JoSAA 2020. Candidates who are participating can already check their seat allotment status and download seat allotment letter via logging-in at the JoSAA Counselling Portal.

The Opening-Closing ranks (OR-CR) are the JEE Main Ranks of first and last candidates that were allotted a seat or course at a particular college. These ranks are released after each round of counselling. There are supposed to be 7 rounds this year as well. However, IITs will complete counselling in 6 rounds only.

In addition to the JoSAA Business Rules 2020, there are certain changes that have been introduced in the JEE Main Counselling 2020 Process, specially due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The major change includes online verification of documents by verifying officers.

JoSAA has specified the following in their recent notice-

  1. Candidates are not required to visit the Verification / Reporting centers physically. The process is now completely online.
  2. Once a seat is allocated to a candidate, he/she must login and provide the options or willingness.

JoSAA Counselling 2020 Round 1 Seat Allotment To Release Soon Check Details

Depending on the All India Ranks (AIRs), many students will bag seats in top-tier IITs and many will grab seats in top NITs through JoSAA Counselling 2020. The Round 1 Seat Allotment Result of JoSAA Counselling will be announced on 17th October 2020. The counselling authority i.e. JoSAA will then also release the opening and closing ranks of Round 1 on the same day.

The last date to register for counselling in NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, IIEST (via JEE Main) or IITs (via JEE Advanced) is today i.e. 15th October 2020. Candidates who registered at the JoSAA portal will not be allowed to revise their preferences after 5 PM today.

To register or login at the JoSAA portal, candidates only need their JEE Main or Advanced Application Number and Password. JoSAA previously released the 1st Mock Seat Allotment and 2nd Mock Seat Allotment result for candidates to get an idea of expected final allotment.

  • Visit the official website of JoSAA i.e. josaa.nic.in
  • Click on the link for JoSAA Online Registration and Choice Filling 2020.
  • Enter your JEE Main/Advanced 2020 Application Number and Password.
  • Login and check your Final Seat Allotment Result for Round 1.

What are the Next Steps After Seat Allotment?

Once you are allocated a seat in one of the preferences provided during choice filling, you will get the following three options-

  1. Freeze – Use this option to confirm a seat and pay the seat acceptance fees.
  2. Float – This option allows a candidate to pay the seat acceptance fees but also opt for a better college or course in further rounds.
  3. Slide – Candidates can utilize this option if they only want a better course in the same institution allocated to them. Seat Acceptance fees can be paid here as well.

A Few Things To Note-

  • This time, document verification and all the other processes related to admission will be conducted online only. Candidates who are using the freeze option must keep their documents ready (given below).
  • Using the Freeze option will mean you will not be able to take part in further rounds of counselling i.e. Round 2 or further.
  • Float and Slide options are provided to those who have not been allocated their first preference.

Seat Acceptance Fees at JoSAA Portal

This year, the seat acceptance fees has been kept as provided below-

  • Open/OBC Category – INR 35,000
  • SC/ST/PwD Category – INR 15,000

The fees can be paid via SBI Net Banking, SBI Debit Cards or e-challan issued by SBI only. Do note that this fee will be adjusted during payment of the 1st Semester fee of the college that the student is admitted in.

JoSAA Counselling 2020: Second Mock Seat Allotment Released, Registrations End Tomorrow

JoSAA Counselling 2020

Based on revisions done by candidates till 13th October, JoSAA has released the second mock seat allotment results today i.e. 14th October 2020. This will be the last mock allotment of seats and candidates will be given one more opportunity to revise their choice of college and course till 15th October 5 PM.

After this, Round 1 Counselling results will be announced on 17th October. Candidates will be able to confirm their allotted seats by paying the seat acceptance fees.

How To Check JoSAA Mock Seat Allotment?

Candidates who have registered on JoSAA portal can login again to check mock seat allotment.

  • Visit the official portal of JoSAA 2020 for registration and choice filling. Check here
  • Login using your Application Number and Password.
  • The mock allotment status will be displayed at the portal.
  • Save the mock allotment result as a PDF if required for future use.

Depending on the preferences provided by the candidates, JoSAA allocates seats proportionate to the admission cut off for colleges.

The last date to register at JoSAA portal will be tomorrow. Conclusion of registration and choice filling will then be followed by counselling process from Round 1 to Round 7.

JoSAA Counselling is conducted for all the participating colleges which includes – IITs, NITs, IIEST Shibpur, IIITs and CFTIs. A total of 110 colleges are taking part in JoSAA Counselling 2020.

Those who qualified JEE Main 2020 are eligible for admissions in NITs+ system and those who qualified JEE Advanced 2020 can take part in IITs admissions as well. The counselling for IITs will only be of six rounds this year due to long delay caused by COVID-19 pandemic and country-wide lockdown.

It is important to note that all the processes such as document uploading and verification, reporting to college and other formalities are being conducted online only this time to safeguard candidates from COVID-19. Previously, candidates were also required to report at respective colleges or reporting centres.
