JEE Main 2021 May Session Postponed, Education Minister Confirms; Check Details

The May 2021 session of JEE Main stands postponed in view of the surge in COVID-19 cases throughout the country. With the COVID situation still worsening, students await a decision on the May cycle.

JEE Main 2021 was scheduled to be conducted from 24th to 27th May 2021 but now has been postponed amid a jump in COVID-19 cases. Previously, on April 18, 2021, NTA released a notification stating that JEE Main 2021 April session has been postponed. The decision was taken keeping the worsening situation and the safety and well- being of students in mind.

Now, NTA has informed in their notice that exam dates for the May session and registration process will be informed to students later. As the number of COVID-19 cases is still rising at an even greater pace, students await a decision on the final dates for the May session.

The uncertainty caused by the pandemic looms over the head of all JEE Main aspirants. If the May session is postponed further, then NTA might cancel the April and May sessions entirely. This is because a lot of students are already facing issues due to the delay in the academic year. Further delay could disrupt the learning process and academic performance too. Till now, around 20 lakh students have registered for JEE Main 2021 while around 12 lakh appeared for the February and March session. (For Session 1 – 620978 and in Session 2 – 556248)

There are still a large number of students who have not appeared for any session or registered for the upcoming sessions. The registration process for the May session was likely to begin from the 1st week of May. But as there are no exam dates announced from either NTA or the Ministry of Education on the postponed April session and May session.
