A unique college largely chosen for research in fields of science, the Indian Institute of Science, Education and Research forms one of the first colleges vividly chosen by scholars who want to pursue their career in a research background. It is often considered an institute for future scientists. Established by MHRD, GOI in 2006, there are a total of 7 IISER established in the country today.

MHRD has classified IISER as an institute of national importance. It ranks 29th in NIRF Rankings in 2020 with an overall score of 53.49. The admission process for various courses is highly competitive. It is done through exams like IISER Aptitude Test/Jee Advanced Score/ KVYP Score/SCB score followed by an Interview.

IISER Kolkata: Rankings and Achievements
