IIT Kharagpur Placements Report and Summer Internship Programmes

IIT Kharagpur placements for 2019-2020 batch has been concluded. Students from different B.Tech branches have received a total of 350 offers. Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) once again topped in the CTC analysis with an average of above 30 lacs. Highest number of offers came to the department of Mechanical Engineering.

  • Engineering department witnessed 20% placements, IT and software 40%, E-Commerce 15%, Finance 10% and Analytics 15%.
  • About 200 recruiters participated in the 2018 – 2020 placement session for MBA.
  • Top companies like Google Flipkart, JP Morgan, Tata Steel, Microsoft, Apple, OYO etc were the top recruiters in IIT Kharagpur.
  • 23 international job offers were received by the students. These were from countries like Japan, USA, Germany and Taiwan. The statistics of Job Offers from these countries are given below ;
    • Japan- 11 job offers
    • USA- 6 job offers
    • Taiwan- 4 job offers
    • Germany- 2 job offers
  • 1500 students registered for the IIT Kharagpur placements. The first phase of placements began around December 1.
  • This year the students of the Institute managed to receive 261 PPOs, out of which 213 PPOs were accepted. Overall placement percentage of all branches at IIT Kharagpur is 74%.

IIT Kharagpur Summer Internship Programs

Summer internship 2020 for various departments of IIT Kharagpur has started. The Institute has made excellent facilities to enable students for internship programs during the pandemic situation. Students can apply for internships through an online mode. Students can do internships from the month of April to June.

  • A total of 1,306 offers were made in the 2019 – 2020 session and there has been no cancellation so far.
  • Institute had managed to form a placement committee in coordination with the companies. This has been done to ensure proper help to the students regarding their placements and internship amid covid 19 outbreak.
  • 500 internship offers were made available to the students.
