IIT Bombay: B.Tech Admissions via JEE Advanced
IIT Bombay has 15 various departments offering bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral courses under various areas such as Engineering, Science and Management. For admission to these courses, the students have to qualify various entrance examinations like JEE Advanced, IIT JAM, GATE, UCEED, and meet the required cut-offs. Eligibility for B.Tech
- Admission to the B.Tech, B.Sc., and dual degree courses will be done based on the student’s score obtained in the JEE Advanced. While for JEE Advanced, JEE Main score is required. Know the difference of JEE Main vs JEE Advanced
- Candidate’s admission to IIT Bombay for the M.Sc. and M.Sc. + Ph.D. degree will be based on the IIT JAM score.
- Candidates are selected for the MBA course of IIT Bombay on the basis of percentile score obtained in CAT.
- Admission to the Ph.D. program will be done based on the GATE/UGC-NET score and on the basis of performance in a written test and personal interview of the candidates.

How is IIT Bombay Coping With COVID-19?
COVID-19 outbreak has severely affected all activities at IIT Bombay. All the detailed circulars and information are regularly communicated through email to all the students, staff, and faculty.
- IIT Bombay started with online classes in August 2020.
- But a large number of students of IIT Bombay come from economically weaker sections of society.
- Due to which availability of requisite IT equipment with many students is still not possible.
- Thus IIT Bombay started a funding campaign in order to provide the support of a laptop and an internet connection to all the economically weaker category students. The total target of this funding is INR 5 crores.
- Students belonging to remote areas with no internet connectivity could contact their HOD and request to come back on campus.
- For the students who wanted to return to campus, they were required to check their eligibility and fill the form.
- Further, they had to follow all the COVID-19 related guidelines issued by the college.
- The IIT Bombay hospital is regularly active while providing any support required to COVID-19 patients in Mumbai.

Scholarships Offered by IIT Bombay for B.Tech Courses
Several scholarships have been provided by IIT Bombay to undergraduate B.Tech students and other postgraduate students. Government and private authorities also provide financial aids for the education of various economically disadvantaged students. Various IIT Bombay scholarships are listed below:
Merit Cum Means Scholarship
- For Merit-cum-means scholarships, academic merit, as well as means (annual income of family), will be taken into account to determine eligibility.
- For new entrants of B.Tech or Dual Degree Courses, the JEE Advanced All India Rank (AIR) will be the criterion.
- Their academic performance and parental income is the basis for the criterion of the scholarship.
- Students whose parents’ annual gross income does not exceed INR 5,00,000, are eligible for Merit-cum-Means Scholarship.
- The benefit of free tuition and scholarship money, according to their parent’s income, will be awarded to the students.
- All eligible women candidates get an additional INR 10,000/year under this scholarship.
Free Messing Facility (For SC/ST students)
- Facilities of Free Messing (for basic menu) are given to all SC/ST students whose parents’ annual gross income is below INR 5,00,000.
- They are also provided with a pocket allowance of INR 500/month.
- Students availing this financial assistance are also exempted from paying hostel room rent.
- The students are also exempted from payment of complete tuition fee.
- With this financial aid, they will receive free messing facility, and pocket allowance per month
Also, National Talent Search Scholarship (NTSE), National Scholarships (All States) for UG students, NBHM (National Board of Higher Mathematics), DBT Scholarship for M.sc students, AERB (Atomic Energy Regulatory Board) for M.Tech students and many other scholarships are awarded to the IIT students by the government.

IIT Bombay Fee Structure For B.Tech Courses
Given below is the IIT Bombay fees to be paid by the newly admitted students in the 2020-2021 Autumn Semester batch.

Notes-
- Day scholars are exempted from hostel rent, and charges for electricity, water, hostel and mess.

According to the fee structure given above, if the one time fees is removed, the total fee per semester goes up to INR 1.17 lakhs. Since there are 8 semesters in B.Tech Course, the total fees for 4-year B.Tech course at IIT Bombay is INR 9.36 lakhs.
Do remember that this fee can be revised by the college authorities and is subject to change. For example, the tuition fee for older batches was approximately half of the tuition fee for new batches.
