Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Science University (GADVASU) was established in 2005 at Ludhiana by an act of Punjab Legislature No. 16 as notified in Punjab Government Gazette on August 9, 2005. The college started to function from April 21, 2006. The sole motive of opening this university was to promote livestock production and efficient prevention of diseases through integrated teaching, research and extensive programmes.

The university offers UG, PG and Ph.D courses, admissions are based on merit scored in respective exams.

The institute provides a total of 17 courses. Some of the important courses are as follows –

BTech -Dairy Technology -Biotechnology
  • Eligibility- merit scored in 10+2 exam with 50% aggregate for unreserved students and 40% for reserved students. Must have qualified CET GADVASU.
  • Duration- 4years.
  • Eligibility: Merit scored in 10+2 exams with 50% aggregate for unreserved students and 40% aggregate for reserved students. Subjects required are- Physics, chemistry, biology and English.

MTech -Dairy Technology -Dairy Engineering -Dairy Microbiology
  • Eligibility- Must have Qualified exam of AIEEA-PG, Must have BTech/Bsc degree with min. 60% aggregate marks.
  • Duration- 3years
Msc -Biotechnology -Agricultural Economics
  • Eligibility- Must have Qualified exam of AIEEA-PG, Must have BTech/Bsc degree with min. 60% aggregate marks.
  • Duration- 4 years.
  • Eligibility- Must have qualified exam of AIEEA-PG, Must have a degree in BVSc with min 60% aggregate marks.
  • Duration: 2years.
PH.D -Veterinary science -Animal biotechnology -Fisheries -Dairy science and technology
  • Eligibility- Must have a master’s degree in MVSc or an equivalent course from a recognised university or institute with a minimum 70% aggregate marks.
  • Duration- 5years.

GADVASU Admission Process

The admission procedure in Angad Dev veterinary and animal science university begins in may the entire application process is online the following details are required to be in knowledge for admission in GADVASU-

  • Admission to GADVASU UG courses is based on the scores of CET gadvasu the entrance test is conducted by the university itself.
  • Admission to UG courses of GADVASU is based on the performance of the candidates in AIEEA-PG.
  • For Admission in PHD courses the candidate requires to appear in a personal interview round conducted by the university the selection is completely based on the rankine merit list.


GADVASU cut off list is the minimum marks as prescribed by the selection board for the admission of the students. The merit list is designed according to those cutoff scores candidates who apply for the institute are required to clear the cutoff for various courses.

GADVASU Facilities

Following facilities are provided by the university to all its students and faculty members-

  • University provides with three well-equipped lecture halls with latest audio visual teaching techniques including LCD projector in computer it also provides three well-equipped laboratories for teaching and research purposes the university provides 12 well furnished faculty rooms with internet connections and 14 present experimental dairy plants of 500 LPD capacity.
  • all the laboratories and research faculty of the college are well equipped and established with latest modern technological sensitive analytical instruments for teaching of undergraduate postgraduate and PhD students in the field of dairy technology.
  • Experimental dairy plant is another excellent feature of the infrastructure which is created in the college the main aim of experimental dairy plant is to provide best infrastructure for training to the b tech dairy technology students and to undertake research and development work by the scientist for leveling up with the laboratory concepts of newly developed technologies to semi commercial skills the experimental dairy plant is having milk handling capacity of 5000 LPD.
