Film and Television Institute of India is a Government Institute established in 1960. Film and Television Institute of India has been ranked at #8 in 2020 by NIRF and #1 for engineering by the Week Ranking. FTII Pune is known for its flagship Film Wing and TV Wing programs.

Film and Television Institute of India follows a credit-based curriculum and the admission is strictly based on the merit of the Joint Entrance Test. The Institute later sends Interview letters to the shortlisted candidates. The Entrance test is usually conducted in the 3rd week of February every year. FTII accepts a JET score of 71 (General Category) for PG Diploma courses.

The toppers of the JET are awarded a scholarship of INR 12,500 during the course period. The academic toppers receive a scholarship of INR 24,000 every year.

FTII Pune provides the student’s opportunity for the International Exchange Program with various top Film Institutes in countries like Australia, Malaysia, Germany, France, and China. As a part of the program, students learn new and creative ideas.

FTII Pune Selection Process 

Students who wish to pursue their career in the Film and Television industry are selected based on the below-mentioned steps:-

  • Scores in Joint Entrance Test: Students are selected based on the marks they scored in the Joint Entrance Test and they will be called for the next step by the Institute directly.
  • Orientation/Interviews: Students are invited for Interviews and orientation programs.
  • Call Letters: Students who are selected in the Interview round are called for admission.

FTII Pune Admission Criteria 

Film and Television Institute, Pune admission is purely based on Joint Entrance Test. Students after qualifying for the test, are selected for the Counselling round.

FTII Pune Scholarships 

The Institute offers very limited scholarships to deserving candidates. Usually, it is given at the starting of the year based on the candidate’s performance at the time of admission or the end of the year by considering the marks students scored in their theory, practical subjects.

The State Government is also providing various scholarships to all truly deserving candidates.

Ans. Film and Television Institute of India works as an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Information and broadcasting which is the main reason that number of seats is limited. Government has control over fees and the budget is allocated for every batch so that’s why the seats are limited.
