Few Main Points From #EducationMinisterGoesLive
There were some major takeaways from this live session specifically on Joint Entrance Examination 2021 as it is conducted in multiple sessions. Moreover, JEE Advanced 2021 is also undergoing changes this year.
- The Ministry of Education is discussing the prospect of conducting JEE Main 2021 in multiple sessions each year. He hinted at 4 sessions of JEE Main. At present, NTA conducts the exam only twice a year.
- Syllabus for board examinations is often not standardised with JEE Main Syllabus. While CBSE and few state boards have decreased their syllabus, some state boards have backed out. Dr Pokhriyal hinted at a decreased JEE Main 2021 Syllabus too.
- Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal has assured the students of safety amid COVID-19 and also ensured that they will be provided with appropriate time to prepare for both entrance exams and board exams. Students have been concerned as they lost about 4 months of the academic year due to delay in CBSE exam results.
- There were no official announcements of exam dates, which we have seen in his previous webinars and tweets. However, Dr Pokhriyal said exam dates will be announced soon. He ensured the dates will not clash for 12th board exams and entrance exams – JEE Main or NEET.
Schools Will Completely Reopen Soon
Dr Pokhriyal gave some other assurances as well. Given the sudden release of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, there are some setbacks as students haven’t been able to get regular classroom education. Many have complained about poor online classes which offer no benefit at all.
- He had said that schools will soon reopen completely. COVID-19 cases are decreasing as the government is getting a better control towards the situation. Till date, 17 states have taken the decision to reopen schools.
- Some students asked about practical exams which have a 25% weightage in 12th boards. Amid COVID-19 pandemic, it will be impossible to conduct these exams. Dr Pokhriyal said the ministry will “discuss in this regard”.
“No Plan To Postpone NEET 2021”
Before this live session, students had tweeted to the Education Minister requesting to postpone the exams, especially NEET 2021. However, Dr Pokhriyal clarified that there is no plan to postpone the NEET 2021 exam.
- As an assurance of safety, he hinted at NEET 2021 being conducted in CBT (computer-based test) mode. NEET was conducted in offline mode only. He said since students want NEET exam online, it can be considered too.
- Dr Pokhriyal gave the example of Bihar elections where guidelines were followed similar to entrance exams. He appreciated that NEET exam, with most number of participants, was conducted amid COVID-19 pandemic.
He thanked and congratulated ministers, officials and essential workers on conducting the board and competitive exams of 2020 successfully even amid the COVID-19 pandemic. NTA’s National Test Abhyas app helped students prepare for JEE Main and NEET, and is still useful for upcoming exams.
Students Want JEE Main 2021 Postponed, More Attempts For JEE Advanced 2021
Last updated on December 7th, 2020 at 03:05 pm
Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal has asked students to raise their concerns by tagging him and using the hashtag #EducationMinisterGoesLive. In a turn of events, instead of asking the dates for exams, students are asking to postpone JEE Main 2021. Students are also asking the Education Minister to reduce the JEE Main 2021 Syllabus.
The major requests from students are on syllabus. Few are asking to release the official syllabus soon, while many want a reduction similar to CBSE. Many students have also raised their voices on an additional attempt for JEE Advanced 2021. This comes as many were unable to take the exam amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
JEE Main Application Forms Out Soon?
Students are also expecting the commencement of JEE Main 2021 Applications soon after the live session by the Education Minister. Exam dates for 2021 session are yet to be announced.
#EducationMinisterGoesLive
Requested you to provide two more chances of iit jee advance I.e. in 1st in 2021 & 2nd in 2022 for the students who have passed their class 12th in 2020 (session 2019-20)— Deepak Kumar (@DeepakK39073623) December 7, 2020
Do note that JAB (Joint Admission Board) had decided to provide an additional attempt for JEE Advanced but only to those who had their last chance in 2020. Those who were attempting JEE Advanced 2020 for first time, will be considered for only 1 more attempt i.e. JEE Advanced 2021. Read More
Sir all the students are not able to sleep bcoz we have 4-5 hrs of school then 5-7 hrs of tuition then atleast 3hrs of entrance coaching and it’s affecting our memory. Please cut down the syllabus for both boards and entrances! @DrRPNishank @msisodia #EducationMinisterGoesLive
— Jasneet Khurana (@khurana_jasneet) December 4, 2020
“Online Classes Are A Formality”
For JEE Main 2021, many are requesting Dr Pokhriyal to postpone it to March 2021. This is because of uncertainty towards syllabus and improper implementation of online education. A lot of students have complained about “poor video quality” in online classes. They are also asking to postpone the board exams amid the COVID-19 pandemic as chances of spread of virus might go high during the February-March.
The live webinar will be held by Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal on 10th December 2020. Students can raise their queries on Twitter and Facebook. Keep visiting JEEMains.in for latest updates on your B.Tech entrance exams!
JEE Main 2021: Live Session With Education Minister Extended To December 10th
Last updated on December 3rd, 2020 at 12:15 pm
The live interactive session/webinar with Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, scheduled for addressing queries of students, has been extended to 10th December 2020. Dr Pokhriyal tweeted that this will help address “most of the concerns” of various JEE Main 2021 aspirants as well as those worried about exam dates for CBSE Boards.
There are concerns regarding delays in the academic year due to COVID-19 pandemic and absence of notification on reduction in JEE Main 2021 syllabus for students. However, CBSE had reduced the syllabus for class 10th and 12th by 30% in the month of August 2020.

Students, we know you have tons of questions related to upcoming competitive/board exams! In order to make sure that we cover most of your concerns, we have decided to extend the date of the webinar to Dec 10.
Till then keep sharing your concerns using #EducationMinisterGoesLive! pic.twitter.com/yHr9oG1dAF— Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank (@DrRPNishank) December 1, 2020
Although, a statement from Dr Pokhriyal has suggested that NTA will soon come up with a revised syllabus for competitive exams such as – JEE Main & NEET 2021. However, it might take some time as consultations are ongoing with multiple educational boards and state education boards.
How To Raise Your Queries?
Students who have queries can tweet to Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal on his Twitter or post on his Facebook account. They will have to use the hashtag #EducationMinisterGoesLive. As the date for the webinar is extended to 10th December, students cannot expect the commencement of JEE Main 2021 Registrations any earlier.
If going by the usual schedule, CBSE releases dates for board exams around the month of December. Exams are conducted in February and March with a suitable gap for JEE Main aspirants, so the dates don’t clash. However, there are no dates released for any of the two. Moreover, schools have been shut down amid the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown for almost 8 months now. Students have lost classroom education which might have resulted in poor overall learning.

Share your queries with me using #EducationMinisterGoesLive now, if you haven’t done yet! pic.twitter.com/dUmTKkektT
— Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank (@DrRPNishank) November 30, 2020
Students and parents can ask their queries using hashtag #EducationMinisterGoesLive on Facebook and Twitter. Usually JEE Main registrations begin in the month of September. But due to COVID-19, JEE Main 2020 was delayed by over five months. This also has pushed the upcoming JEE Main 2021 dates tentatively by over one month.
Recently, Dr Pokhriyal also announced that NTA is discussing the prospect of reduced syllabus for JEE Main 2021. There are also reports that JEE main 2021 will be conducted in February 2021 as the discussion between various examination boards such as CBSE, ICSE is still ongoing.
A campaign will be launched by @eduminofindia to seek views from students, parents & teachers on how & when to conduct the exams next year.
— Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank (@DrRPNishank) November 26, 2020
JEE Main 2021 In Multiple Languages
Even though many have not taken this aspect into consideration, the delay in JEE Main 2021 session might be due to new languages added. Dr Pokhriyal had previously notified that JEE Main 2021 will be conducted in more regional languages. Integrating these languages in the computer-based examination mode will definitely consume a lot of time for NTA.
Previously, JEE Main was only conducted in 3 languages – English, Hindi and Gujarati. But now more languages are being introduced in accordance with the National Education Policy 2020.
Currently, students are taking admissions in various colleges as the JEE Main Counselling has concluded for the candidates of 2020 session. JoSAA Cut Off for various colleges such as NITs, IIITs has been released officially.
