Chanchal College, set up in 1969, is popular for offering BA, B.Com, and B.Sc courses and is dedicated towards the goal of empowering the locals, especially Minorities, of Malda by education. The college accepts admissions based on Merit only and generally the cut-off percentage in 10+2 for admissions hovers around 60-65% (aggregate).

Recently, the college is working towards providing a bigger canteen at the premises of the institute as well as getting affiliated with the National Cadet Corps (N.C.C.) of the Indian Army

Chanchal College Scholarships

The students of Chanchal College, Malda are eligible for several scholarships from the institute, West Bengal Government, and Central Government. Some of them are –

  • Chanchal College Freeship: Chanchal college provides scholarships to the students on the basis of their 10+2 aggregate or economic background.

Who is Eligible for these Scholarships?

  • Chanchal College Freeship: The student must have 90%+ in the 10+2 aggregate or his family income must be less than 4 lakhs per annum
  • West Bengal State Scholarship for SC/ST/OBC and Central scholarship for the same: The student must be domiciled in West Bengal (The native resident of West Bengal) and must be currently studying in West Bengal. The candidate must belong to the SC/ST/OBC category with no parents employed in the state or central service.
  • Central Scholarship for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): The family income of the student should be less than INR 8 Lakhs per annum.

How to avail of the Scholarships?

  • The candidates applying for the Chanchal College Freeship should fill in the relevant details in the application form along with the declaration to apply for the scholarship. The supporting documents (10+2 certificate and Income Certificate) should also be attached.
  • The candidates applying for Central or state scholarship should do on the official website of the concerned Ministry or Scholarship program. While applying a candidate has to attach a Caste certificate and Income Certificate issue by the relevant authorities. Upon selection, the scholarship would be transferred into the account of the student.
