Changes in JEE Main Exam Pattern 2020

NTA has revised JEE Main Exam Pattern from 2020 onwards as below:.

Introduction of NAT

Numerical value questions do not have options and one needs to type the answer using the virtual keyboard available on computer screens:

  • For each section of B.E / B. Tech, there will be 5 NATs
  • JEE Main students of B. Plan. need to answer 5 NATs in the JEE Main Maths section
  • NATs does not have negative marking

Number of papers increased to 3

  • JEE Main 2020 will have separate papers for B. Arch and B.Plan
  • Therefore, JEE Main papers now include B.E. / B.Tech, B.Arch, and B.Plan

Reduced number of questions

  • For JEE Main B.E/B. Tech section, the number of questions has been reduced from 90 to 75
  • NTA has reduced overall marks as well from 360 to 300

Other changes

  • From 2020, the B. Plan Exam Pattern has been separately introduced in JEE Main
  • The increase in the application fee can be paid online
  • JEE Mains has removed upper age limit
  • To be eligible, a JEE Main applicant must meet the eligibility norms irrespective of age
