Presidency College, Chennai, was granted autonomous status in 1987 and was reaccredited by the NAAC with a ‘B++’ grade. It offers 21 undergraduate and postgraduate classes, with 18 M.Phil. specializations and 19 Ph.D. specializations. The TANCET Entrance test for MCA is used to determine admission to the program. How to Apply?

  • As previously stated, students must obtain an application form from the institution.
  • Students must carefully fill out the admission form and apply the appropriate mark sheets before the deadline for the admission process.
  • Once the applications are submitted, the college will give the student a form with all of the marks mentioned on it, which he or she must carry on the day of admission.

Presidency College Scholarship

The college Council grants merit-based scholarships to candidates in need of financial support in the B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., M.A., M.Sc., M.Com., M.C.A., and M.Sc., M.Com., M.C.A. courses. The value of each scholarship is generally reduced to the amount of the scholar’s fee or half of it. The number of College Scholarships available at any given time is limited to 4% of the college’s total strength. In the first place, the scholarships are given for a year and usually continue until the completion of the course. They can be revoked at the Principal’s discretion. The list of scholarships with a brief detail is given below.

  • Government Scholarships: Every year, the government awards a few grants to eligible junior high school students who usually proceeded to senior high school. The scholarships are worth INR 20 and INR 24 a month, respectively, and are valid for 9 months per year.
  • Scholarship under the Excess Fees Income Scheme: On the basis of talent and poverty, a certain number of scholarships worth half the cost of college tuition are awarded each year. Students who are receiving any such concession or grant would not be eligible for these scholarships.
  • National Merit Scholarship: Government of India Scheme-:Students from this state who are doing their studies in 11th, 12th, and Professional Colleges are eligible for a set number of National Scholarships. Candidates are selected based on their S.S.L.C 12th and U.G. grades. The merit of the reviewing bodies is used to assemble the student lists. Students who pass the exam are given a scholarship every month, and any who do not pass are given a reward of INR 100 and a Merit Certificate if they are not already receiving a scholarship. They do not earn more than INR 25,000 a year.
  • State Scholarship to Children of School Teachers: Scholarships are provided to children of school teachers whose parents’ compensation does not exceed INR 12,000 per month. Standard Applications are advertised in daily newspapers, and the applications submitted are compiled into a Merit List. A limited number of scholarships are available for students in grades XI until the completion of their graduate studies.
  • State Government Merit Scholarship Scheme: The student who places first in X level, Matriculations, A.I.S.L.C., C.B.S.E., and A.S.S.S. This scholarship is awarded based on academic achievement, not on parental income. Scholarships are given out starting in the eleventh grade and continuing into their graduate study.
  • Freedom Fighters Scholarships: Students whose parents took part in India’s independence and spent three months in jail are eligible for this award, as well as fee discounts for their college and career studies.
  • Children of Defense Service Personnel: Scholarships and fee discounts are offered to children or dependents of military members and ex-servicemen, subject to certain terms and conditions.
  • The Children of Repatriates from Sri Lanka: Scholarships and fee discounts are provided to children of Sri Lankan repatriates studying in schools, subject to certain terms and conditions.
  • The children of Repatriates from Burma: Scholarships and fee discounts are provided to children of Burma repatriates studying in schools, subject to certain terms and conditions.

There is no income cap, and the subscription can be extended indefinitely.
  • State Collegiate Scholarship: Students who have received no other scholarship and whose parent’s annual income is less than INR 6,000 can apply to either of the qualifying scholarships by their principals. Except for serial No. 6, for which INR 135 will be sanctioned, a total of 270 INR per annum will be sanctioned.
  • Scholarship for Post-Matric Studies in Hindi: Scholarships are provided to students who want to study Hindi but do not speak the language at home.
