Established in 2001, Mizoram University (MZU) is an NAAC accredited university with over 35 affiliated colleges. It has been consistently ranked amongst the top 100 universities in 2016, 2017 and 2018 NIRF rankings under MHRD.

The University offers courses for UG, PG, M. Phil. and Ph.D. programs for 33 departments. Admissions to MZU take place through online modes only and are merit and entrance based.

For the BTech and BArch courses, MZU accepts JEE and NATA scores respectively. For BArch, the cutoff ranges from 1380-2052 and for JEE, the cutoff varies roughly between 34562- 45678 for all the rounds. In addition to providing quality education, MZU has a successful placement rate with students being placed in leading corporates and government organisations of the country.

Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)
  • Duration- 2 years
  • Eligibility- Candidates must have 50% marks either in Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or any other further equivalent degree from an affiliated university.
  • Selection criteria- Qualifying marks in the MZUEEE followed by counselling.
BA (Hons.)
  • Subjects- Arts, History, Political Science, English, Mizo, Sociology, Geography, Public Administration
  • Duration – 3 years
  • Eligibility- Candidates must secure at least 55% in 10+2 examination or equivalent from a recognized board of education.

M. Tech

The university’s admission process varies for each course. It ranges from MZU online entrance to merit-based admission.

How to apply?

  • Visit the Mizoram university official website and log in.
  • Fill the application form given on the site. The candidates are not allowed to change anything in the form once submitted.
  • The candidate must pay the application fee of 700 INR for submission of the application. For Sc and ST applicants the fee is 350 INR only.
  • Take the printout of the submitted form after submission. Send the hard copy with other required documents to the official address.

Mizoram University Scholarships

Different scholarships are offered to students from time to time. Some of them are:

  • Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship- Applicable for SCs and STs only.
  • Meritorious scholarship- Applicable to students of the science stream with meritorious results and amounts to 12000 p.a
  • Maulana Azad National Fellowship for minority students- 10,000/pa for humanities and social science students, 12,000/pa for science students for the initial two years, and 20,500/ pa for the remaining years.

  • Library: The university consists of a central library with more than 1,30,000 books, 378 thesis papers, 300 dissertations, 20 dailies, And other reading materials. The library regularly subscribes to journals, general periodicals, and dailies.
  • Hostel: Mizoram University in total has 7 hostels among which 4 for girls and 3 for boys. All primary amenities like water purifiers, common room, mess, surveillance system, etc.
