Mumbai University Admission 2021: Dates, Eligibility, Selection Criteria, Application Process

Mumbai University (MU) has recently announced the schedules of the entrance examination for Ph.D. admission, which is to be held on March 26th and 27th, 2021. The entrance examination for M.Phil. admission will be held on March 25th, 2021. Both the Ph.D. and M.Phil. entrance examinations will be conducted online. From March 12th to 17th 2021, the mock test will be conducted. The deadline for MU PET 2021 application has been extended till March 2nd, 2021. Students can apply online by visiting MU official website.

Mumbai University offers various UG, PG, and Doctoral degree courses. The UG courses are available in specializations like BA, B.Sc., B.Com., BSW, BHM, BMS, B.Li. Sc, B.P.Ed., BPA, LLB, and BFA. At the UG level, dual courses are also available like BMS+MBA, BA+MA, B.Sc.+M.Sc. and LLB+LLM courses. The PG courses available under specializations like M.Com., MA, M.Sc., MMM, MMS, MFSM, MHRDM, M.Ed., M.LI.Sc., M.P.Ed., MSW, MFA, LL.M, and MPA. It also offers M.Phil, and Ph.D. research-level courses. Students can also pursue diploma courses on distance learning from Mumbai University IDOL. The registration forms for applying to distance education for diploma courses are available on the University website itself.

Students can get admission to any course in Mumbai University through the MUCMET entrance test. The admission process will get started from June 2021. The University itself organizes the entrance examination. LLB students need to appear in the MUCLAT entrance examination. To apply for the entrance examinations, students need to have any valid national-level score (as prescribed). Based on the performance in the entrance examination, students will be called for the admission process. For the admission process, students need to visit the University with the required documents. Once the admission fees are submitted, the deserving students will be allotted their seats depending on merit. The students need to secure good marks in the last qualifying examination and the entrance examination.

  • The application process should be submitted online.
  • Students first need to complete their registration with the correct email id and phone number.
  • Then need to log in again and complete filling all the important columns in the application form.
  • They have to upload all the necessary educational and personal documents.
  • Need to pay the application fees online.
  • After successful submission of forms, an acknowledgment receipt will be given to the name of the student.

Mumbai University Scholarships

Mumbai University offers various scholarships to the students pursuing different courses at the Mumbai University. Some of them are as follows:

  • Financial Assistance to Backward Classes Students – Students belonging to backward classes such like SC, ST, NT, DT, and SBC are offered INR 10,00,000.00 (Ten Lakhs) as the Financial Assistance to these students. These scholarships can only be availed by those students whose parent’s annual income is less than INR 1 lakh.
  • Financial Assistance to the Needy Students- Needy students, who are studying in various Institutions, Colleges, and University Departments, belonging to economically backward classes are offered INR 1,00,00,000.00 (One Crore Rupees) as a corpus fund as Financial Assistance from the year 2004-05.
  • Book Bank Scheme- For the PG backward class students, Mumbai University offers a financial assistantship every year to run the book bank scheme. This scholarship was implemented from the year 2004-05.
  • Group Insurance Scheme- The group insurance scheme offered in Mumbai University is known as YUVA RAKSHA. This insurance offers the coverage for accident including permanent disability, accidental death, or hospitalization. In the year 2001-02, the Mumbai University has introduced this insurance policy.
  • Multi Commodity Exchange Fellowships- Mumbai University offers INR 75,000 each year to scholars pursuing a research program in the Department of Economics.
  • Narotam Sekhsaria Fellowships for Research- This fellowship is offered by the departments of Physics, Economics, and Statistics of Mumbai University to the master’s degree students of the respective departments who had secured a minimum of 55% of marks from any recognized University. The value of this fellowship is INR 10,000 per month in the first year and INR 12,000 per month from the second year.
