IIT Delhi was established in 1961. First, it was established as the College of Engineering, and later on, it was declared as an Institute of National Importance under the ‘Institute of Technology Act,1963’. The Government of India has given the status of Deemed University, the college is autonomous and can take its own decisions about the academic policy, examinations and degrees.

Since its initiation, over 48000 students have graduated from IIT Delhi in various streams such as Engineering, Management & Humanities, Physical Sciences, and Social Sciences. Among these graduates, around 5070 students have received Ph.D. degrees.

IIT Delhi: Admissions

IIT Delhi’s application process is different for each course. Generally for B.Tech application process starts from September with JEE Main registrations. For PG admissions, however, it begins in March. Candidates seeking admission to IIT Delhi’s BTech, MTech, MSc, and MDes programs can apply on the official website of the relevant examination.   • IIT Delhi B.Tech admission is based on a candidate’s JEE Advanced rank, followed by JoSAA Counselling
  • M.Tech admission is carried out on the candidate’s performance in GATE.
  • For MSc program admission, candidates are required to qualify for IIT JAM
  • For MBA admission criteria, candidates must have a valid CAT score
  • M.Des admission is based on a candidate’s performance in CEED

IIT Delhi placement in the year 2020 has set a benchmark with 1100+ job offers from National and International Companies. IIT Delhi: Scholarships

Undergraduates Scholarship Programmes

  • Institute Merit-Cum-Means (MCM) Scholarships: IIT Delhi provides this scholarship for undergraduate students of engineering and technology. Institute MCM Scholarship is provided to 25% of the students, where students from the General/OBC/EWS category get INR 1000/- per month and the receipt is exempted from paying the fees.
  • Institute Merit Prize and Certificates: IIT Delhi provides this scholarship to the 7% of students of 4th year engineering students and 8th&10th semester students of the Dual Degree Program. The scholarship amount of the Merit Prize is INR 2500/-.

Postgraduates Scholarship Programmes

  • Institute Merit-Cum-Means (MCM) Scholarships: Institute Merit-Cum-Means (MCM) Scholarships are for MSC candidates only with some conditions. Whereas it is similar to undergraduate scholarship but the difference is- students whose parents’ gross income is up to INR 4.5 LPA can avail the scholarship of every category.
  • PhD: There is no such scholarship available for PhD candidates. IIT Delhi award a scheme for those candidates who admit admission on a full-time basis. In this scheme, the candidates get the opportunity to teach/research assistantship, with no other fellowship.

IIT Delhi: Facilities

  • Hostels: Like other colleges, IIT Delhi also provides separate hostel facilities for both boys and girls. There are 14 hostels in total, among 11 for boys and 3 for girls. Hostels are provided with all the facilities like a study room, indoor games room, lounge, and a dining room with a mess facility. Along with a free internet facility.
  • Library: IIT Delhi consists of central and departmental libraries. The library is filled up with more than thousands of books from each department, along with reports, journals, online electric studies facilities, and many more. The library has a rich collection of science and technology books.
  • Cafeteria: There are many cafeterias on the campus of IIT Delhi. For the candidate’s convenience, each cafeteria is located in the academic areas and nearby hostels. Along with cafeterias, there are many shops on the campus like Amul, Lipton, Cafe Coffee Day, and some more.
  • Sports Complex: All the facilities are available for all types of sports such as badminton court, basketball court, cricket ground, football ground, hockey ground, tennis court, volleyball court, swimming pool, athletics track.
  • Labs: Every department has its practical lab. Some of them are chemistry lab, computer lab, civil engineering lab, mechanical lab, electrical lab, electrical lab, physics lab, and many more. Proper lab facilities are provided with proper guidance.
