National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research [NITTTR] Chandigarh Admission 2021: Dates, Eligibility, Selection Criteria, Application Process

The NITTTR Chandigarh has extended the last date of applying to the M.E programs and Ph.D. programs until 31 May 2021. The Institute offers only two programs and the candidates have to clear the respective Bachelor or Master courses to seek admission to the institute. The Institute is affiliated with the University of Madras and Anna University.

As per the official brochure released by the NITTTR the institute will draw a merit list of the candidates based on their merits, scores in the last examination, etc. For the M.E course, the Institute will also consider the experience possessed by the candidates. While choosing the students for the Ph.D. course a well-formulated scheme will be followed and each section of the criteria will be given a particular weightage. The students who are successful in finding a place in the final merit list released by the Institute will be called for the counseling round.

  • The Institute offers Master of Engineering programs in five different streams i.e. ME in Mechanical Engineering (Manufacturing Technology), ME in Civil Engineering (Construction Technology and Management), ME Computer Science & Engineering, ME Electrical Engineering (Instrumentation & Control), and ME Electronics & Communication Engineering.
  • The application process for the Ph.D. programs started on the 28th March 2021 till 30th April 2021. However, it has now been extended to 31st May 2021.
  • The total duration of the Doctoral Programme will be 3 years.
  • The candidates applying for the M.E. programs in any stream have to possess post qualification experience of at least 1 year.
  • Completion of the pre- Ph.D. contact program is mandatory before taking up admission in the regular Doctoral course.
  • The minimum period of the completion of the ME (Modular) Program including thesis will be 3½ academic years while the minimum period including thesis shall be 5½ academic years.

NITTTR has commenced the application process for both the M.E. or Ph.D. course on 28th March 2021. The last date of the application form filling was 30th April 2021. However, the institute has extended the last date of application form filling for both courses:

NITTTR Chandigarh MTech Admission Criteria 2021

The NITTTR Chandigarh has also sought applications from candidates who wish to apply for the Master in Engineering programs of the college. As per the official brochure, the admission will be provided in five courses i.e. ME in Mechanical Engineering, ME in Civil Engineering

ME in Computer Science & Engineering, MS in Electrical Engineering, and ME in Electronics & Communication Engineering

NITTTR Chandigarh MTech/ MS Eligibility Criteria:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a concerned subject from a recognized University or its equivalent with at least 60% marks in aggregate and post qualification experience of at least 1 year (2 years in case of AMIE).

NITTTR Chandigarh MTech Selection Criteria: 

The selection of candidates for the M.E. Programme will be based on a merit list prepared by the Institute by applying the formula mentioned in the official notification. The following two factors will be considered while drafting the merit list:

  • The aggregate percentage of marks scored by the candidate in the BE course X 0.4
  • 1 mark will be provided for each completed year of the total experience the candidate possesses.

Documents Required 

The documents to be presented along with the application form of the M.E. course are as follows:

  • Class 10th or Matriculation certificate as an age proof.
  • Marksheets and degrees of the Undergraduate Degree.
  • Medical Certificate proving SC/ST/OBC/Physically handicapped category status.
  • A Certificate of sponsorship from the competent authority.
  • Semester/year-wise Marks sheets
  • Maximum marks that the candidate scores in each semester of the Undergraduate course
  • A certified copy of the conversion formula in case of marks in grade points is essential.

NITTTR Chandigarh Ph.D Admission 2021

The NITTTR is known to offer admission in Ph.D. courses to candidates in a total of seven disciplines. The selection of the candidates is completely based on their merit, experience and marks scored in the previous year’s exam. The Institute will also consider the marks scored by the candidates in GATE/SLET.JRF. While for the normal candidates an entrance test will be conducted by the Punjab University.

NITTTR Chandigarh PhD  Eligibility Criteria

  • The candidate should have cleared his Master’s degree from the relevant discipline with at least 55% marks in aggregate or the grade should be equivalent to Grade B or UGC 7 point scale. The candidates who belong to the reserved category will get a relaxation of 5% marks in aggregate.
  • The candidate possessing a degree equal to MPhil will be also allowed to apply for the same.
  • The candidate must have 3 years of teaching program experience in the respective branch.

NITTTR Chandigarh PhD Selection Criteria

The candidates willing to get admission in any of the Ph.D. programs have to find a place in the final merit list released by the college. The college will follow the following criteria to draft the final merit list.

  • 50% weightage to be given to the marks obtained in the qualifying examination.
  • 20% weightage will be awarded to the experience gained by the candidate after completing his Engineering Course. For every year of experience, 2 marks will be provided to the candidates.
  • 10% weightage will be awarded to candidates who have attended short-term courses approved by QIP/ ISTE/ AICTE/ IMPACT for not less than one week. The candidate will be awarded 6% marks who have attended the program for two weeks. While 10% marks will be awarded to the candidate who has attended the program for more than three weeks.
  • 5% weightage will be awarded if any of the research papers of the candidate is published in journals.
  • 5% weightage will be awarded to those who have made a significant contribution in any of the Community Development Programme.
  • 5% weightage will be provided to the candidates who have prepared monographs/book writing/or have experience of preparing course materials.
  • 5% weightage is fixed to the candidates who have given any kind of consultancy.

Also NITTTR Bhopal/chandigarh are very good options as these are located in good cities, as the city plays a vital role in exposure.
