Army Institute of Technology [AIT] is a reformed institute designed for wards of army personnel only. It was established in 1994 and set up by Gen B.C. Joshi who was the then Chief of the Indian Army.

AIT is located in Pune, Maharashtra. AIT aspires to become a “globally recognised” technical institute providing world class education and research capabilities and facilities to army personnel. It is permanently affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU).

Army Institute of Technology [AIT] Courses

AIT, Pune majorly offers two courses i.e., BE (Bachelor in Engineering) and ME (Masters in Engineering). The programs have best in class textbook knowledge along with all the extra-curricular in the right amount.

Army Institute of Technology [AIT] Admission

All applicants are therefore required to appear in JEE Main 2021, 1st / 2nd / 3rd / 4th JEE (Main) 2021, the best of the four scores will be considered by NTA for preparation of final merit list and All India Rank. (In AIT, last year’s last admitted student’s All India Ranking was 1,66,320).

AIT offers a total of 300 seats in UG courses. There are 120 in Computer Engineering, 60 seats in Electronics and Telecommunication, Information Technology and Mechanical Engineering, each.

The M.E. program is offered in Machine Design specialization. The candidate must belong to a retired/ serving army family with minimum 50% marks in B.E./ B. Tech from a recognized University. Admission to this program will be on the basis of marks secured in the GATE entrance exam.

They need to show Proof of eligibility in respect of the following categories:

  • Ward of serving Army personnel or of a regular Army pensioner (Submit Certificate No 1).
  • Ward of an ex-Army personnel granted pension benefits (Submit Certificate No 1).
  • Ward of ex-Army personnel who has taken discharge or released after ten years of service (Submit Certificate No 1).
  • Adopted child of an Army personnel (Submit Certificate No 2).
  • Ward of Army personnel (Submit Certificate No 2).
  • Ward of an ex-AMC/ADC Officer (Submit Certificate No 3).
  • Ward of an APS Personnel (Submit Certificate No 3).
  • Proof of Ward of War Widow (Battle Casualty Certificate along with C.T.C. of Part II Order (as per Appendix ‘A’

How to apply?

  • Visit the college website, and start by clicking on the admission form.
  • Registration can be done by adding simple mandatory fields. The form requires personal Details, Addresses, and Mobile Number.
  • Along with that, details of JEE (Main) Application Number, Roll Number etc are required to be filled in AIT Application form.
  • An ID and password will be generated, post that.
  • Then submitting the form will post logging in with the credentials.

Cost of Application Form:

  • Cost of online application is 600, inclusive of all the processing charges.
  • Last date for submission of completed online Application Form without late fee is 29 May 2021 and with late fee of INR 500 is 15 Jun 2021.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Wards of serving/retired Army personnel are eligible to apply for admission to AIT.
  • Must be an Indian citizen, or a PIO who has obtained/obtains Indian citizenship before admission.
  • The parent should have completed minimum 10 years of service in the Army. Detailed eligibility criteria is available in the prospectus.
  • Class XII or equivalent (appeared or passed) with compulsory subjects as Physics and Mathematics alongwith one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational Subject.
  • Candidates should obtain at least 50% in the above combination of subjects
