The idea of the foundation of the University for the Development of different sectors of agriculture was under influence of the government of Jammu and Kashmir directly from the mid-1970s. It was finally established by the official authorities in the year of 1999.

The University is a state agricultural University of Jammu division of Jammu and Kashmir.

Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir sacked 12th Rank among 73 State Agriculture Universities/ICAR Institutes of the country and is in the club of top 09 SAUs of the country, which was perceived well by the accreditation committee of the ICAR in 2019.

The college offers around 39 courses that include Under-graduation, Postgraduate and PHD level courses in 2 streams. The admission to these programs offered by the college will be done purely in online mode.

The Career Counseling & Recruitment Centers with its headquarters at Shalimar perform the following functionalities:

SKUAST Jammu Scholarship

The University offers financial assistance to the campus students under these scholarships mentioned below:

The Scholarships will be paid for 10 months in the academic year.

An amount of INR 1000 will be granted to the students at graduation level for the first 3 years of the course at college and University.

An amount of INR 2000 will be granted per month for students at the Post-Graduation level.

The students pursuing professional courses will be granted INR 2000 per month in their 4th and 5th years.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • To provide the scholarships, top 20% students will be selected from all the registered students.
  • The students who have completed 12th are qualified for the scholarship.
  • The annual income of the student’s parents should be less than INR 6, 00,000.
  • To maintain the scholarship, students are required to fulfill the stringent criteria set by the University.
