Established in the year 1914 by the Government of Madras (Chennai), Queen Mary’s College has been one of the most popular colleges for women. It is located in Mylapore, Chennai. The college is affiliated to the University of Madras. It has been re-accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ Grade.

Up until 1916, the college used to offer intermediate courses to women. However, from 1916, the college introduced various undergraduate courses in History and Economics and intermediate courses in subjects like Geography, Indian Music, Physics, Chemistry and Home Science. The college currently offers all the popular UG, PG and PhD courses in streams of Commerce, Science and Humanities like BCom, BA, MPhil, BSc, MSc, etc.

Queen Mary’s College Scholarships

  • Full fee concession for (SC/ST) students. 75% of the attendance is compulsory. The student should apply with certificates to avail of the scholarships/concessions.
  • Students who belong to Tamil Nadu and are financially challenged can avail of the state scholarship for 9 months with the recommendation of the principal. Note that the family income should be less than INR 12,000 /- per annum.
  • Converted Christian Adi Dravidar students whose parent’s income is below INR 50,000 /- need not pay their semester fees and special fees.
  • SC/ST student staying in hostels are offered loans and scholarships. For UG students, a scholarship worth INR 6500/- is provided whereas, for PG students, a scholarship worth INR 7000/ – is available.
  • BC Students whose parents’ income is below INR 1,00,000 /- can avail themselves BC scholarship.
