National Institute of Technology (NIT) Kurukshetra or NITKKR is an institution which is recognized as an Institution of National Importance. Eligibility Criteria for NIT Kurukshetra
- At least 75% marks are required in class XII in order to be eligible for taking JEE Main.
- Or the candidates must be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination which is taken by their respective boards.

NIT Kurukshetra: Academics Amid COVID-19
Due to the current situation of spreading global pandemic, National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra had published notifications regarding the closure of institutions until the country-wide lockdown by the government is revoked.
- For students who are currently pursuing various programmes at NIT Kurukshetra, the institute has arranged for alternative measures with the help of teaching faculty, considering the safety of students and staff. Classes are being conducted online using platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams.

NIT Kurukshetra Cut off for B.Tech Specialisations
Since NIT Kurukshetra is one of the most sought after institutions, the JEE Main Cut Off for B.Tech admission is high for different programmes. However, compared to other top-tier NITs, National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra has much lower cut off for top B.Tech courses such as IT, Electronics etc. Although, even after the low cut offs, candidates must score at least above 15,000 to grab a seat under general category through home state quota.

NIT Kurukshetra: Reservation via JEE Main Counselling (JoSAA)
Candidates who have qualified in JEE Main are eligible to appear for JoSAA counselling where they are able to seek admission in JoSAA Participating Colleges like IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. . Reservation in NITs is followed as per JoSAA seat allotment rules.

Scholarships at NIT Kurukshetra
NIT Kurukshetra offers merit-cum-means scholarships and merit scholarships for students who are pursuing B.Tech at the institution. In addition to these scholarships, there are several national and post-matric scholarships and stipends for eligible students. Out of 3307 UG students at NITKKR, 1228 students were receiving scholarships from government funds.
- Central Sector Scholarship Scheme:
- As per the Government of India, all the SC students are eligible for higher education scholarships of up to INR 2 lacs per annum.
- The college has multiple students who have availed these scholarships.
- Merit Scholarship:
- The top 3 students of each semester in every branch are offered Merit scholarships at NIT Kurukshetra.
- Currently the scholarship amount is INR 3000 along with a merit certificate provided by the college.
- Institute Scholarships:
- As per GoI norms, all NITs provide tuition fee exemption to students of SC/ST/PwD/EWS categories.
- Students whose annual family income is below 1 Lac are exempt from tuition fees.
- Other Private Scholarships:
