JoSAA Counselling 2021: Registrations Begin Today, Admission into IITs, NITs, IIEST Starts

Established by the Ministry of Education, Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) looks, manages and regulates the joint seat allocation for admissions to 114 institutes across the country for the academic year 2021-22. JoSAA has opened its window for admission into these institutes from today: October 16, 2021.

JoSAA Counselling 2021 is conducted for admission to premier institutes such as the Indian Institute of Technology or IITs, National Institute of Technology or NITs, Indian Institutes of Information Technology or IIITs, Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, or IIEST.

However, the entire counselling process would be conducted in six rounds and each round would consist of several stages including choice filling, registration, choice locking, seat floating, seat confirmation, seat allotment, payment of seat confirmation fee and reporting to the allotted college/institute.

JoSAA 2021 Schedule

JoSAA-2021 registration process is compulsory for getting admission into any of the IITs, NITs, IIITs and Other-GFTIs. The process of registration requires candidates to re-fill in a few basic details, viz. gender, contact details, state code of eligibility and nationality. These details are mandatory to move ahead in the counselling process.

What documents do you need to be ready with before registering for JoSAA counselling 2021? 

The list of documents candidates should keep handy for JoSAA 2021 counselling registration are as follow:-

  • Three Passport size photograph, similar to the one used for JEE Main/Advance registration
  • Scanned copy of the signature
  • Class 10 mark sheet
  • Class 12 mark sheet
  • A valid photo id card like Aadhar Card
  • Category/caste certificate, only if applicable
  • Medical certificate (in JoSAA-2021 specified format)
  • JEE Main Score Card
  • JEE Main Admit Card
  • JEE Advance Admit Card
  • JEE Advance Result Card

How to register for the JoSAA counselling 2021? 

Candidates should follow these steps to register for JoSAA counselling 2021:

  • Visit the official website of JoSAA i.e. josaa.nic.in
  • On the homepage, click on the “Registration and Choice Filling”
  • Enter the required details
  • Complete JoSAA 2021 choice filling
  • Check all entries and lock your choice

After this, the students will have to freeze the allotted seat. A candidate has to pay a seat confirmation fee in case they are willing to go ahead with the allotted seat, and further report to the respective college with the provisional admission letter and other required certificates to complete the admission process. Either way, candidates can float the allotted seats up to round 6 only as it will be the final and last round for admissions. It should be noted that November 15, 2021 is the last date for the same, and hence no seat allotment would be allowed past it.
