Factors Affecting JEE Main Paper 2 Results
The ranks of candidates depend upon the interplay of various factors like:
- Difficulty of the paper
In case the exam is difficult, the cut-offs will go down. These benefits students with low ranks as the competition is minimised at lower ranks.
- Number of candidates who appeared for the examination
More candidates mean higher competition. In JEE Main B. Arch and B.Planning paper, the number of candidates is very low compared to the NATA exam. This makes JEE Main 2020 B. Arch and B.Planning paper comparatively easy to rank higher.
- Number of seats available for candidates
Although this does not directly affect the JEE Main Paper 2 Result of a candidate, if there are fewer seats for a particular course, the JEE Main Cut Off will go higher. The seat availability could oppositely affect the result.

What are JEE Main 2020: Tie-Breaking Rules
Some students often score equal marks in JEE Main B.Arch or JEE B.Planning 2020 Exam. The authorities consider inter-se-merit in such situations. The method of compilation of scores is identical for both the papers, but the tie-breaking procedure is a little different. The following actions are taken for breaking the tie for admissions.
For B.Arch (Paper 2)
- Candidates obtaining a higher NTA score in Mathematics will be given a higher rank.
- Then, candidates obtaining a higher NTA score in the Aptitude Test will be considered for higher rank.
- This is followed by candidates who have obtained higher NTA scores in the Drawing Test for the next highest rank.
- If there is tie even after all 3 options then candidates older in age will be considered for higher rank.
- At last, if the resolution is still not possible, then candidates will be ranked the same.
For B.Planning (Paper 3)
- First, candidates obtaining a higher NTA score in Mathematics will be given a higher rank.
- Then, candidates obtaining a higher NTA score in the Aptitude Test will be considered for higher rank.
- Third, candidates obtaining higher NTA scores in the Planning Section will be ranked higher.
- After all 3 above, if the tie still remains, then candidates older in age will be ranked higher.
- Finally, if the resolution is still not possible, then both candidates will be ranked the same.
