As per the official notice, clearing JEE Main has been made mandatory for the TES-46 course.
The eligibility criteria for candidates applying for the Technical Entry Scheme (TES) after Class XII has been changed by the Indian Army. Joint Entrance Examination (Main) scorecard has been made compulsory to apply for the TES-46 course. The existing eligibility criteria require candidates to have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects in Class XII and secure at least 70% marks. Qualifying JEE Main 2021 will be an additional requirement in addition to the existing criteria.
TES-46 Application Form To Be Released In July
The applications for TES-46 will tentatively be released in July 2021. Candidates can register for the same on joinindianarmy.nic.in. The age limit to apply for the technical entry scheme is 16.5 to 19.5 years. Firstly, the candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of educational qualification. The selected candidates will then be called for the SSB interview followed by a medical exam.
TES comprises a 5-year training program commissioned at the Training Academy, on completion of which candidates will be commissioned into the Indian army at the rank of Lieutenant. The 5-year training includes basic military and technical training.
JEE Main is the national level entrance exam conducted for granting admission to engineering courses at various top colleges throughout the country. Top 2.5 lakh candidates will qualify to appear for JEE Advanced 2021. JEE Main 2021 will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in 4 sessions- February, March, April, and May 2021. February and March sessions have already been conducted by NTA while the April and May sessions have been postponed due to a spike in COVID-19 cases.
