JEE Main 2021: Will It Be Postponed Amid COVID-19 Surge?

Students demand postponement of JEE Main 2021 April session by starting social media trends using hashtags like #canceljeemains and #postponejee2021.

JEE Main 2021 April session is scheduled to be conducted from April 27 to April 30, 2021. But the drastic increase in COVID-19 cases throughout the country has led to the demand for postponement of JEE Main 2021 by the students. Students have started social media trends to make their demands noticeable. Hashtags like #canceljeemains and #postponejee2021 are trending on Twitter.

Students are citing the increase in COVID-19 cases and the risk of infection as the primary reason behind their demand for postponement of JEE Main 2021 April session. The increase in coronavirus cases has also brought many states under lockdown. Some students also pointed out that they will be required to travel over 100 kms to reach their exam centre as JEE Main centres are located only in specific cities.

CBSE 12th Boards Postponed

Amid the worsening situation, CBSE Board exams for Class 12th have also been postponed as per the notification issued by the Education Ministry while the board exams for class 10th have been cancelled. However, NTA has not given any clarification on whether the JEE Main April session will be postponed or not. The clarity on whether the national level entrance exam will be postponed or not is expected to come by next week.

NTA decided to conduct JEE Main 2021 in 4 sessions. The February and March sessions have been conducted successfully while the April and May sessions are due. If there will be no changes in exam dates for the April session then students can expect the release of JEE Main 2021 Admit Cards anytime soon. Students will be able to download their admit cards from jeemain.nta.nic.in using their Application Number and Date of Birth.
