JEE Advanced Paper Analysis: Chapter-wise Analysis, Marking Scheme

JEE Advanced 2020 is conducted for the admissions in undergraduate engineering courses, i.e., BE/B.Tech and some architecture courses in the most prestigious engineering institutes of the country. Here, in this article, JEE Advanced Paper Analysis is given, based on the difficulty level of the examination along with the distribution of marks. Also, it will give the detailed paper analysis regarding the types of questions asked in the examination form each section.

The examination in 2019 was conducted by IIT Roorkee on May 27th, 2019 and the JEE Advanced Result was declared on June 14th, 2019. There were two papers in the examination, namely Paper 1 and Paper 2. It is compulsory for the candidates to attempt both the papers as the aggregate of both is considered as marks scored. Paper 1 was conducted in the morning shift while Paper 2 was conducted in the evening shift.

JEE Advanced Paper Analysis 2020: Highlights

As the JEE Advanced was conducted in online mode (Computer-based test), it was not possible to get an accurate JEE Advanced Paper Analysis. Although, the candidates had a similar opinion and the same is given below-

  • Mathematics was long and difficult for both papers. It was toughest among all of the sections.
  • Chemistry was easy compared to others.
  • Physics was average but had a few tricky questions.
  • Paper 1 was relatively harder than Paper 2

JEE Advanced Paper Analysis 2020: Paper 1 Quick Analysis

  • The paper was relatively difficult in comparison to the previous year’s paper.
  • Most of the questions asked in Paper 1 were moderate in nature.
  • Overall, the Physics portion was comparatively easier than Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • Mathematics part was relatively difficult in the examination.
  • The level of difficulty in Paper 1 was marked moderate with maximum weightage given to class 12 syllabus.
  • The questions asked from Chemistry were not theoretical. They were based on calculations and need rigorous calculations.

JEE Advanced Paper 1 Analysis

JEE Advanced Paper Analysis 2020: Paper 2 Quick Analysis

  • The difficulty level of the JEE Advanced Paper- 2 was moderate.
  • The questions asked from Physics and chemistry were relatively easy as compared to Mathematics.
  • Mathematics part was tough and lengthy. Most of the questions were asked from Matrices which made the paper lengthy.
  • Most of the questions from Matrices and Differential Equations were asked in the Mathematics section.
  • Physics section was easy to moderate in nature.
  • The number of questions asked in Chemistry were from organic and Inorganic Chemistry. Very few questions were asked from Physical Chemistry.

JEE Advanced Paper 2 Analysis

JEE Advanced Paper Analysis: Marking Scheme

The marking scheme for JEE Advanced 2020 is not defined by the conducting authority before the examination. The details of the marking scheme are provided in “Instructions to Candidates” during the examination only. This makes it even more difficult for students to prepare for the JEE Advanced 2020. According to the previous year’s paper analysis, the marking scheme is given below. This scheme is subject to change as per the decision of examination authority.

Marking Scheme for Paper 1

Paper 1 consists of Multiple-choice questions with 1 answer, Multiple Choice questions with more than 1 answer and Numerical Answer type questions.

JEE Advanced 2019 Paper Analysis

Jee Advanced 2019 was conducted in IIT Roorkee on May 27, 2019, and was taken by approximately 1.70 lakh candidates. The exam was of 372 marks. Students were awarded 4 marks for a correct answer and a mark was deducted for every incorrect answer.

Chemistry

The chemistry section was the easiest in both papers 1 and 2. The aim of the paper was to test the concepts of the candidates. The concentration of the question was higher from organic and inorganic chemistry. The least questions were asked from the physical chemistry.

JEE Advanced 2018 Paper Analysis

JEE Advanced 2018 was conducted in IIT Kanpur on May 20, 2018.. The exam was of 360 marks. Students were awarded 4 marks for a correct answer and a mark was deducted for every incorrect answer. The questions in the chemistry section were more difficult in comparison to the other two sections.

JEE Advanced Paper Analysis 2020: Final Takeaway

The JEE Advanced Paper Analysis gives us a brief idea of how the upcoming exam can be framed by the examination authority. Since JEE Advanced is a challenging examination to test the reasoning ability and other skills of the students, the pattern and scheme is not defined until the last moment. It is revealed only during the examination. This forces students to improvise as per the situation of the examination and take quick decisions to manage the best possible score.
