Jabalpur Engineering College (JEC) was founded in 1947. The institute was accredited with Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalya (RGPV) and is certified by the AICTE. The college is now declared Autonomous by the Government of Madhya Pradesh. It is India’s second engineering college and Central India’s leading engineering school.

The institute aspires to create world-class infrastructure and knowledge empowerment mechanisms in order to produce graduates and postgraduates with high levels of competence, wisdom, and a commitment to ethics and values. It also aspires to perform cutting-edge research, develop inventive and creative problem-solving abilities, and build strong ties with technical institutions, companies, R&D organizations, and the community. For both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, admission is based on entrance exams.

For the purpose of admission, the institute accepts JEE Mains and GATE scores. It started functioning from the existing building of the Roberson College, Jabalpur, which was constructed in the year 1916. The building now houses the Civil engineering department of JEC and Robertson College has been shifted to its present and permanent campus in Pachpedi. Teachers and students of Applied Sciences and many engineering disciplines have access to adequate facilities for doing research and earning their PhD and D Sc degrees. This college has awarded Ph.D. degrees to approximately sixty teachers and students. JEC is pursuing a number of measures to stay up with rapidly changing technologies, including revamping its courses and undertaking several projects in the key areas of engineering and technology.

Star News named Jabalpur Engineering College the “Best Government Engineering College” in India for the second year in a row (2011-2012). Jabalpur Engineering College was once ranked number 34 in India by Outlook India. It is the country’s first institute to offer Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering courses.

  • Eligibility: Candidate must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with a minimum aggregate of 75% from any recognized board.

MCA

  • Eligibility: Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with Maths as compulsory subject in 10+2 or graduation and should have a minimum aggregate of 55% (45%for SC/ST).
The merit of a preceding qualifying degree is used to determine MCA selection.
MSc

  • Departments: Applied Physics, Applied Chemistry, and Applied Mathematics
  • Eligibility: Graduate Degree with PCM as compulsory subjects and scoring a minimum aggregate of 55%.
The percentage gained in the B.Sc. degree test is the sole criterion for M.Sc. selection.

JEC has a strong track record when it comes to placement. Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, and Electronic Engineering students received the most placements, there are not much placements for Industrial Productions unit. Ans. The hostels are good, they are located outside the college. There are separate hostels for Girls and Boys. Also, there are many other private hostels also available in the area.

Ans. Getting a decent placement is not a problem at JEC if you come from CS/IT branches, you just need to be in touch with the Training Placement Officer (TPO). For other departments, especially IPE there are only a handful of companies.

Ans. Sports at JEC is pretty good, the college has courts for volleyball, basketball and a huge cricket ground which is very close to the Robertson Lake. Students organize Sports Fests and other Inter branch tournaments. Hostel students also organize GC (General Competition).
