GU IDOL Admission 2021: Dates, Eligibility, Selection Criteria, Application Process

The Institute of Distance and Open Learning, Guwahati was established to provide education to people who cannot come to college every day. The Institute of Distance and Open Learning (GU IDOL) is made to provide education through distance mode and open learning to people who want to pursue their higher education but couldn’t take admission in regular colleges because of their workload or any other problem.

  • The Institute of Distance and Open Learning also provides SLM that is self-learning material and counselling sessions to students that are admitted to the course in the institute.
  • The institute also provides digital library digital classrooms. The Institute of Distance and Open Learning provides admission through both online and offline mode.
  • The students can pay their fees via both online and offline modes.
  • Admission to undergraduate programmes is based on merit.
  • Admission to PG diploma is based on the marks scored in the pg course, and admission to a few courses is done through marks scored in the entrance exam.

Earlier the college used to provide only a few courses but gradually the Institute started providing 16 PG courses, 4 UG programmes, 8 PG diploma programmes. There are around a hundred study centres and 60 examination centres of the institute.

GU IDOL UG Admissions Criteria 2021

The Institute of Distance and Open Learning, Guwahati offers four undergraduate courses. The duration of every undergraduate course is 3 years. Details about eligibility, selection criteria and how to apply are shared below:

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students must have cleared their 10+2 in the respective stream from a recognized board or any other equivalent.
  • Students must have cleared their 10+2 with at least 50 per cent aggregate marks.

Selection Criteria

The Institute of Distance and Open Learning, Guwahati will release a merit list of selected students that are eligible for admission to the institute.

GU IDOL PG Admissions Criteria 2021

The Institute of Distance and Open Learning, Guwahati offers 16 postgraduate courses. The duration of every course is 2 years. Details about eligibility, selection criteria and how to apply are shared below:

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students must have cleared their 10+2 in the respective stream from a recognized board or any other equivalent.
  • Students must have cleared their graduation in the respective field from a recognized university or any other equivalent.
  • MSc Information Technology candidates must have cleared their graduation in BSC/BCA/ Engineering from a recognized university or any other equivalent.
  • LLM candidates need to have secured a Bachelor’s degree in any field or LLB with a minimum of 40% aggregate.
  • MTech candidates must have BTech in Science or Mathematics with a 55% aggregate

Selection Criteria

  • The Institute of Distance and Open Learning, Guwahati will release a merit list of selected students that are eligible for admission to the institute.
  • MSc Information Technology candidates in The Institute of Distance and Open Learning, Guwahati must clear the entrance exam taken by the Guwahati University. The Institute of Distance and Open Learning, Guwahati for providing admission in M.SC IT will release a cut off list prepared based on marks scored by students in the accepted entrance exam.

GU IDOL PG Diploma Admissions Criteria 2021

The Institute of Distance and Open Learning, Guwahati offers 8 postgraduate diploma courses. The duration of every pg diploma programme course is 1 year. Details about eligibility, selection criteria and how to apply to the course are shared below:

GU IDOL Application Process 2021

Online Mode

  • Students have to fill the application form online by visiting the website of the Institute of Distance and Open Learning, Guwahati.
  • Students have to fill in their information and their marks that they scored in the qualifying exam on the registration form.
  • After the merit list is announced, selected students can fill the admission form online and pay their fee.
  • The fee can be paid through both online and offline modes. Students can pay through net banking, debit card, e-wallet or they can also send the demand draft in favour of the Director, IDOL with the print out of the admission form at the address of the institute.

Offline Mode

  • Selected students can visit the study centre of the Institute of Distance and Open Learning, Guwahati for on spot admission.
  • Students have to buy the admission form by paying 50 INR at the study centre.
  • For on spot admission students must carry certain original documents with 2 sets of self-attested photocopies.
