IMU Chennai Admission FAQs

Ques. What is the syllabus for the IMU CET in 2019?

Last updated on July 1st, 2021

Ans. The IMU CET syllabus is based on NCERT textbooks for classes XI and XII. However, some questions were asked that went beyond the NCERT standard.

The IMU-CET is not the same as a traditional engineering entrance exam or the IIT JEE mains. Nonetheless, only 10+2 students with a PCM score of 60% or higher are expected to take the exam. The following is the weighting of the questions:

  • 40 multiple-choice questions in English
  • 40 Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) on General Aptitude
  • 50 multiple-choice questions in mathematics
  • 50 multiple-choice questions in physics
  • 20 Multiple-choice questions on chemistry
Ques. How is the placement at IMU for MTech students?

Last updated on July 1st, 2021

Ans. Placement at IMU Chennai is dependent on market conditions. The ratio of people entering this sector to the number of people needed, i.e. the number of employees, is another important factor. Another point to consider is that agents have a negative impact on shipping. There are plenty of positions available, but agents have made it almost difficult for newcomers to obtain them.

Ques. Indian Maritime University (IMU): How do I get sponsorship for DNS Nautical Science?

Last updated on July 1st, 2021

Ans. DNS is one of the maritime courses that offers the chance to win sponsorship. The application process for DNS sponsorship begins in early March, as the IMU CET is held in June, followed by the admissions process in July, and the course begins in August. Candidates who pass the CET must complete 18 months of sea service in order to qualify for sponsorship. Since sponsorship is awarded solely on the basis of merit, it is critical for students and guardians to avoid phoney companies that promise sponsorship in exchange for money. Checking whether or not legal entities obey DG Shipping guidelines is the best way to learn about them.

Ques. Where should I do my BTech marine engineering course, Tolani Maritime University or IMU Kolkata?

Last updated on July 1st, 2021

Ans. IMU Kolkata is a government-run institution, while Tolani Maritime College is a private maritime school.Tolani is without a doubt one of India’s best private Maritime schools, and your placement is almost guaranteed, but it isn’t easy.

When it comes to IMU, the Kolkata campus is one of the oldest maritime institutes in the world, and it was once the best college in the region, if not all of Asia. While circumstances have changed, it remains one of the best maritime schools.

Ques. Which is better, IMU Chennai or IMU Mumbai?

Last updated on July 1st, 2021

Ans. Chennai is the headquarters of IMU. It has locations in Mumbai and elsewhere.

There is no difference in IMU between the two locations. There could be more courses available in Chennai. From Chennai, all entrance examinations are controlled.
