The IIT Ropar was established in 2008. It was approved by MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development) and set by the Government of India. According to NIRF 2020, IIT Ropar is ranked 25th in Engineering. Popular courses at IIT Ropar include B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc., and Ph.D. The admission can be done through JEE, GATE and JAM scores.

The IIT Ropar community has undertaken an important exercise in developing the Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan for the coming years. The exercise was carried out in active consultation with the Indian Institute of Management of Calcutta, which has technical expertise in this field.

IIT Ropar is well-known for its most well-known B.Tech program. According to NIRF 2020, it is ranked 25th in Engineering. The Institute currently has 574 Ph.D. scholars. During the last year, 102 Ph.D. scholars successfully defended their theses, and 179 scholars joined the Ph.D. program. IIT Ropar Admissions

  • Admission to all of B.Tech/ B.Tech+M.Tech courses are through the IIT Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is an engineering entrance examination held in India to determine eligibility for admission to various engineering colleges. It is made up of two separate exams: the JEE Main and the JEE Advanced.
  • Admission to all of the M.Tech courses is through the valid GATE Score Merit. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a test that assesses a student’s overall comprehension of various undergraduate engineering and science subjects in preparation for admission to a master’s program or a job in the public sector.
  • Admission to all of the M.Sc courses through the M.Sc Joint Admission Test (JAM). Every year, the Joint Admission Test (JAM) for M.Sc. is held for admission to Master of Science and other post-graduate science programs at Indian Institutes of Technology and Indian Institutes of Science, with alternating institutes hosting the test each year.
  • Admission to Ph.D. courses by Merit-Based + GATE/JAM Score and Personal Interview.

How to Apply?

  • Candidates must complete an online registration form on the college’s official website https://www.iitrpr.ac.in/.
  • Applicants should carefully fill in all necessary information, such as personal information, educational information, and other information.
  • Candidates must pay the application fees via the online mode of payment after they have completed the application form for the desired course.
  • The printout of the application form, as well as photocopies of all relevant documents, would need to be submitted to the College.

IIT Ropar Scholarships

Students can apply for the following Scholarship from the Institute:

1. MCM (Merit-cum-Means) Scholarships at the Institute: Undergraduate engineering and technology students may apply for Merit-cum-Means scholarships from the Institute. Around 25% of the students are allowed to do so.

The following are the merit criteria for the continuation of the Institute Merit-cum-Means Scholarship:

  • CGPA must be at least 6.0; and
  • The previous semester’s SGPA must be at least 6.0.

2. Merit Prizes and Certificates from the Institute: For the first and second semesters, the Institute awards merit prizes and certificates to the top 7% of students in each 4-year B.Tech. program.

3. Fee Studentship Program: On the basis of financial need, the Institute provides free studentships to 10% of students. The beneficiary is not allowed to pay the tuition fee.

The following are the merit criteria for the continuation of the Fee Studentship Program:

  • CGPA must be at least 6.0; and
  • The previous semester’s SGPA must be at least 6.0.

4. Scholarships are available for students from the SC/ST category: Tuition fee waivers are applicable to all SC/ST students, regardless of their parents’ or guardians’ income.

5. Scholarship for Post-Metric Students: SC/ST students may apply for the State Government’s Post-Metric Scholarship. Students can find more information on the websites of their respective state governments.

6. Scholarship for SC/ST students to pursue a top-notch education: The student may choose to receive this scholarship from the Government of India.

7. Other scholarships: In addition to the above-mentioned scholarships, there are few other scholarships awarded by NGOs and some external agencies.

8. Fellowship for B.Tech.-M.Tech. Dual Degree: Students are members of B.Tech.-M.Tech. A dual degree program with good academic performance is awarded a scholarship in the final year, which is at the same level as that granted to students of M.Tech. programs.

How to Avail Scholarship?

Candidates must register online according to the College instructions. The student must fill out the application form and attach all necessary documents. The eligible students will be awarded the amount once all of the verification is completed.

IIT Ropar Facilities

The IIT Ropar ensures a well-maintained Wi-Fi campus along with a large collection of books and reference materials to meet the instructional and research needs of students and staff. Some of the services provided by IIT Ropar are listed below:

  • Medical Centre: The college has a Medical Centre which is committed to promoting the health and well-being of the campus community by providing high-quality prevention, education, and treatment services. The medical, therapy, and health promotion programs are all structured to help you stay healthy or get better so that injury and disease will cause as little disruption as possible.
  • Hostels: The college has Jupiter, Mercury, and Neptune Hostels for boys, and Venus Hostel for girls is located on the Institute campus. The hostels are well-equipped to accommodate 380 students in convenient accommodation and boarding. Water coolers and RO systems are available in all hostels. Each hostel has a common room with facilities for indoor games and recreation.
