IIM Nagpur Admission 2021: Dates, Eligibility, Selection Criteria, Application Process

On 9-April-2021 the college announced the second personal interview round shortlisted candidates list for the academic year 2021 – 2023. Also, an e-mailed has been sent to each candidate individually. One must confirm their presence for the interview by 12-April-2021 at 6:00 PM IST.

Keeping the current situation of an ongoing pandemic due to COVID-19 the college will conduct interviews online.

On 16-March-2021, IIM-Nagpur started accepting applications for Ph.D. admissions 2021-25. One can apply on their website. The deadline to submit the application form was extended to 31st March 2021 at 6 pm IST.

It has been observed the college follows a cut-off trend as mentioned below.

IIM Nagpur MBA / PGP Program Admission Criteria 2021

IIM Nagpur offers full-time PGP programs (MBA) with specialization in given in the table below:

One also has an option to choose an executive MBA program which is designed for working professionals who are at peak of their career and wish to learn while they work.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must match the below-mentioned cut-offs to be eligible for further rounds.
  • One must have the minimum percentiles mentioned as per their reservation category.
  • The GMAT scorecard produced by overseas students must be of 5 years or less validity from the date of the exam taken.
  • Relevant recent caste certificates must be produced to benefit from caste reservation.

This also accounts for Stage -1 of the selection process

Selection Criteria

The students will be marked/given scores based on the following aspects:

  • CAT or GMAT Percentile
  • Previous Academic Performance in 10th, 12th, and UG course
  • Work Experience
  • Diversity in terms of gender, the field of study & work
  • The score secured in the personal interview

The total score will be calculated to determine one’s admission to the college.

Mentioned below is the scoring system that would be followed by IIM – Nagpur to evaluate the candidates. The following scores and steps followed are part of Stage – 2 in the selection process.

Entrance Test Scores

For Indian Candidates:

The CAT score will be rewarded between 0-10.

  • CAT Score Rating = (Total CAT score obtained by the candidate / Maximum total CAT score) *10

The Maximum CAT score is the highest CAT score secured by a candidate among the candidates who were eligible for the admission process in IIM – Nagpur as per the cut-off.

For Overseas Candidates

The GMAT rating score will be awarded between 0-10.

  • GMAT Score Rating = (GMAT score obtained by the candidate / Maximum GMAT score) *10

The Maximum GMAT score will be 800.

Work Experience Scores

Candidates with relevant work experience will be awarded scores based on the number of months they have worked. The work experience scoring remains the same for Indian and Overseas candidates Terms & Condition applicable for showcasing work experience:

  • Only full-time and paid experience after graduation will be considered. Part-time/Project/Internship/CA Articleship/Training/Apprenticeship/Pre-graduation work experience/ work experience, which involves payment as a stipend, will not be considered.
  • A valid proof of the date of appointment, date of relieving/ work experience certificate, and proof of payment/salary must be submitted.
  • Work experience for employment involving cash payment of salary without salary slip or proof will not be considered.
  • For candidates having work experience in a family business valid proofs of the existence of the business, the association of the candidate with the business/family, and role of the individual in the business, along with proof of payment during work experience must be submitted.
  • In the case of multiple companies’ work experience, the total work experience will be added up and every 30 days will be accounted as 1 month.

Diversity Score

Candidates will be awarded a diversity score out of 10 in the following manner:

Comprehensive Score (CS): After allocation of scores in the above-mentioned category, a comprehensive score is calculated by using the below-mentioned formula:

  • For Indian Candidates: CS = 0.30 * ( CAT Score) + 0.35 * (PAP Score) + 0.20 * (WE Score) + 0.15 * (DI Score)
  • For Overseas Candidates: CS = 0.30 * ( GMAT Score) + 0.35 * (AP Score) + 0.20 * (WE Score) + 0.15 * (DI Score)

Final Selection: This is Stage – 3 of the selection process. Candidates will have personal Interviews at this stage after being shortlisted based on the comprehensive score. Personal Interview scores will be recorded (PI).

The final score (FS) will be calculated using the following formulas:

  • For Indian Candidates: FS = (0.40* (PI Score) + 0.15* (CAT Score) + 0.15 * (PAP Score) + 0.15 * (QWWE Score) + 0.05* (GDI Score)) / 0.9
  • For Overseas Candidates: FS = 0.40* (PI Score) + 0.15* (GMAT Score) + 0.15 * (AP Score) + 0.15 * (WE Score) + 0.10(AWA Score/6*10) + 0.05 * (GDI Score)

The scores will be tabulated individually for each reservation category. The final list will be released after tabulating the scores.

How to Apply for IIM Nagpur MBA?

Documents Required:

  • Latest entrance test score certificate. CAT or GMAT.
  • Past Academic performance mark sheet and certificates.
  • Work experience certificates.
  • Passport size photographs.
  • Reservation Category certificate (if applicable)

Application Process:

Indian Candidates

  • Students have to opt for IIM – Nagpur in their CAT form.
  • On being eligible, which is on scoring above the cut off percentile one can file their application at the official website of IIM Nagpur.
  • The selection process has 3 stages which are mentioned above.
  • On successfully being selected candidates have to pay a sum of 75,000 to the college to confirm their admission and this amount will be adjusted in first semester fees.
  • The required documents have to be submitted for verification.

Overseas Candidates

  • Candidates have to apply through the College Website.
  • A copy of the latest GMAT score certificate (must not be older than Jan 2016), an attested copy of the marks sheet showcasing previous academic performance, copy of all pages of the passport must be uploaded on the application page.
  • A sum of 7,350INR must be paid as application fees.
  • The selection process has 3 stages which are mentioned above.
  • On successfully being selected candidates have to pay a sum of 73,500 to the college to confirm their admission and this amount will be adjusted in first semester fees.
  • The required documents have to be submitted for verification.

IIM Nagpur PhD Admission Criteria 2021

The program duration is designed for four years. In the initial 2 years, it will consist of coursework leading to a comprehensive assessment followed by which participants undertake the thesis work for the remaining 2 years duration under the supervision of an advisory committee.

One has to attend CAT / GMAT and the same scores will be used to evaluate candidates for further rounds.

At present, IIM Nagpur offers Ph.D. in the following areas of specialization:

Eligibility Criteria

  • Master’s degree after completion of UG and schooling with 10+2+3/4 (UG) education system with a minimum of 60% or equivalent marks.
  • Post-graduate diploma in management of at least one year in duration passed with at least 60% or equivalent marks.
  • Professional qualification – CA/ICWA/CS with (with at least 50 percent aggregate marks) along with a Bachelor’s degree exam passed with a minimum of 60% or equivalent marks
  • A five-year integrated Master’s degree (five years following the 10+2 system of education) program in any discipline, with at least 60 percent aggregate or equivalent marks
  • A 4 year / 8 semesters Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 85% or equivalent marks

The Master’s degree or equivalent qualification/Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification should be:

From any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions. Established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC Act,1956 or, recognized by the Ministry of Education, Government of India or possess an equivalent qualification from an institution approved by AICTE.

Selection Criteria

  • Students will be initially shortlisted based on CAT / GMAT scores.
  • Candidates who have passed the screening test in Stage – 1 will be forwarded for personal Interviews.
  • These candidates will receive an email from the college.
  • The first with an area-led panel and another with the program-led panel.
  • If a candidate has applied for two areas of specialization, he/she has to attend an interview for each area and then a program-led panel interview.

How to Apply for PhD Courses?

Documents Required:

  • Copy of the latest exam score certificate
  • Attested copy of all academic mark-sheets/certificates and Degree of Graduation/ Post Graduation

Application Process:

  • Candidates apply online on the college website.
  • An application fee of 1000INR for a single area of specialization has to be paid and 1500INR for 2 areas of specialization.
  • All the details are screened and candidates are shortlisted.
  • Shortlisted candidates undergo several rounds of Interviews.
  • Final selected candidates are offered admission.
  • Candidates pay a sum of 50,000INR to confirm their admission.

Please note that visiting international locations for participation in any conference/meetings/workshops or business trips is not considered an international work experience. Only full-time work in a foreign location (other than your home country) on legitimate documents, including offer letter/appointment letter and based on salary/consideration is considered international work experience.

Ques. I’m a resident of Nagpur, do I still pay the full fees?
