IIT Roorkee: B.Tech. Admissions Through JEE Advanced

The selection of candidates for B. Tech courses at IIT Roorkee are granted based on the marks obtained in JEE Advanced. After that, the counseling process starts, which is managed and regulated by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA).

The shortlisted candidates will be allotted seats in seven rounds of JoSAA counseling and the seat allotment will be done based on the college cutoff and individual’s preference of courses and colleges.

IIT Roorkee Eligibility Criteria

  • The candidate needs to obtain a minimum 75 percent aggregate (SC/ST category can apply with 65% marks) in Class 12 from a recognised board of education.
  • Candidates who are among the top 20 percentile in Class 12 are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates performance in JEE Main 2020 will be considered, they need to be among the top 2,45,000 in JEE Main 2020 Paper 1

Admissions at IIT Roorkee is a two-step process; first the students need to qualify the JEE Main exam and then take the JEE Advanced exam.

Final selection will be based on JEE Advanced rank and through JoSAA Counselling.

  • IIT Roorkee B. Tech admission generally starts from the month of September with JEE Main Application.
  • Admission to the B. Tech course is granted based on the candidate’s JEE Advanced rank followed by JoSAA counseling. To be eligible for admission to UG programs, candidates need to meet the eligibility criteria of JEE Main and JEE Advanced.

IIT Roorkee: Reservation Through JEE Advanced Counselling (JoSAA)

  • JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) is responsible for the allotment of seats through JEE Advanced at various courses at 23 different IITs all over the country.

Faculty At IIT Roorkee

The Institute is known to have experienced and educated faculty members. Each department invites prospective, motivated, outstanding candidates. Currently, the institute has 369 regular faculty members, 9 Emeritus Fellows, and 17 Scientific and other academic staff. Prof. Ajit K. Chaturvedi is the director of IIT Roorkee and has served the Electronics Engineering Department at IIT BHU.   • Library: The library is named Mahatma Gandhi Central Library. It has a collection of more than 3,50,000 documents in all media. The institute has a well- stocked library with all the books available for the students of all the courses.
  • Well experienced and Highly qualified faculty: The University is known for having world class faculty with the work experience of more than 20 years. All the faculty members are highly qualified and strive to impart education in the best possible way they can.

  1. Merit-cum-means Scholarship: The Institute offers this scholarship to 25% of the students in undergraduate programs. The students admitted to M.Sc 2nd year can also apply for this.
  2. Engineers India Limited Scholarship: This award is available to students belonging to Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe categories. They must be pursuing a full-time undergraduate engineering course.
  3. James Thomason Scholarship: The students having up to 275 All India Rank in JEE Advanced are eligible to apply for this. All such students will be given an amount of INR 25000 per month for the entire duration of their program.
  4. Excellence in Doctoral Research Award: An amount of INR 50,000 will be given to students receiving their Ph.D. degrees. The selection criteria will be based on their thesis report, interview, and presentation.
