IIT Roorkee: B.Tech. Admissions Through JEE Advanced
The selection of candidates for B. Tech courses at IIT Roorkee are granted based on the marks obtained in JEE Advanced. After that, the counseling process starts, which is managed and regulated by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA).
The shortlisted candidates will be allotted seats in seven rounds of JoSAA counseling and the seat allotment will be done based on the college cutoff and individual’s preference of courses and colleges.
IIT Roorkee Eligibility Criteria
- The candidate needs to obtain a minimum 75 percent aggregate (SC/ST category can apply with 65% marks) in Class 12 from a recognised board of education.
- Candidates who are among the top 20 percentile in Class 12 are eligible to apply.
- Candidates performance in JEE Main 2020 will be considered, they need to be among the top 2,45,000 in JEE Main 2020 Paper 1
Admissions at IIT Roorkee is a two-step process; first the students need to qualify the JEE Main exam and then take the JEE Advanced exam.

IIT Roorkee: Reservation Through JEE Advanced Counselling (JoSAA)
- JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) is responsible for the allotment of seats through JEE Advanced at various courses at 23 different IITs all over the country.
- A total of 107 institutes participate in JoSAA counseling.
- JoSAA conducts three main processes of Registering, Filling and Locking Choices. The seats are allotted to students based on their All India Rank in the qualifying exam.

IIT Roorkee Scholarships
Following are the scholarships and awards provided by the Institute to deserving and needy students:
- Merit-cum-means Scholarship: The Institute offers this scholarship to 25% of the students in undergraduate programs. The students admitted to M.Sc 2nd year can also apply for this.
- Engineers India Limited Scholarship: This award is available to students belonging to Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe categories. They must be pursuing a full-time undergraduate engineering course.
- James Thomason Scholarship: The students having up to 275 All India Rank in JEE Advanced are eligible to apply for this. All such students will be given an amount of INR 25000 per month for the entire duration of their program.
- Excellence in Doctoral Research Award: An amount of INR 50,000 will be given to students receiving their Ph.D. degrees. The selection criteria will be based on their thesis report, interview, and presentation.
