IIIT Tiruchirappalli is one of the 19 IIITs considered as an Institute of National Importance. The Government of India, the Government of Tamil Nadu, and the Industry Partners of the college have set it up under the non-profit Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model of the Ministry of Human Resources Development of the Government of India.

  • IIIT Tiruchirappalli was set up at the premises of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Tiruchirappalli in March 2016. It has now shifted to the premises of the Oxford Engineering College Campus.
  • The institute offers B.Tech, M.Tech and PhD programmes at its campus of Srirangam, Tiruchirappalli which is why it’s often called IIIT Srirangam.

Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech 

  • The candidates who passed 10+2 or equivalent with minimum 75% of marks in aggregate from a recognized board are eligible for admission at IIIT Tiruchirapalli.

  • Final admission will be done through JoSAA counselling. Candidates after clearing JEE Main have to apply for JoSAA through online mode and select the IIIT Tiruchirapalli as their choice.

Admission Procedure for B.Tech

In order to get the admission in B.Tech program, the candidates are required to qualify JEE Main examination by clearing the JEE Main Cut Off for B.Tech.

  • Students are required to secure marks equal to or more than the minimum qualifying marks.
  • After this, the candidates who qualify the JEE Main paper would find their names in the merit list for the purpose of admission.
  • Qualified candidates are then required to take part in counselling conducted by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) to get the allotted seats.

Until the shift of the campus of IIIT Trichy from the premises of the National Institute of Technology Trichy to the premises of the Oxford Engineering College Trichy in July 2020, the students were sharing all the facilities provided to the students of NIT Trichy.
