Ans: Yes, Bhaskaracharya College does follow a Choice Based Credit System. Various categories of courses offered in Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) are as follows:
- Core Course: These course papers are compulsory to be studied by a student of a particular discipline. There are in total 14 core papers distributed among all the semesters of the course.
- Elective Course: These courses can be chosen from a pool of courses that may be specific to the discipline/ subject of study or some other discipline/subject or nurtures the candidate’s proficiency.
- Discipline Specific Elective (DSE): A student has to study 4 discipline-specific elective papers during the course. Two papers each are offered in the fifth and sixth semesters.
- Generic Elective (GE): Generic Elective is an elective course usually chosen from an unrelated discipline, to seek exposure to another discipline for the students. A core course offered in a discipline can be used as an elective by another discipline and vice-versa and such electives can also be referred to as Generic Elective. The Generic Elective has equal credit as that of the core paper. In the first 4 semesters of the course, the student has to study one Generic Elective each.
