Central Food Technological Research Institute, established in 1950 is a private institution in Mysore. The courses offered by the institute include M.Sc, Integrated M.Sc, Ph.D. program, and Flour Milling Technology course. Students are granted admission based on their merit. Yet for some courses, students are selected based on Interview or Entrance Exam.

CFTRI M.Sc in Food Technology and Integrated M.Sc-PhD Admission 2021

Eligibility Criteria for M.Sc in Food Technology

A student must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Science / Agriculture / Engineering / Technology with minimum percentage marks or A student must have a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree.

Eligibility Criteria for Integrated M.Sc-PhD

  • A student must have a minimum aggregate percentage of 65% in their B.Sc (SC/ST-60%)
  • The student must have got minimum first class in their B. Tech/B. E/ M.B.B.S/B. Pharm – in Biotechnology/Food Technology/Agriculture/Medicine/Pharmacology course

Selection Criteria

  • A student applying for M.Sc or Integrated M.Sc-PhD course must qualify The CFTRI Entrance Exam
  • Students are then assessed through a final interview session.

How to apply?

Online mode-

The application form of the Integrated M.Sc-PhD course must be filled online by following the steps mentioned below-

  • Visit the AcSIR official website.
  • Click on the “Admission” tab and
  • Click on the “online admission portal”.
  • Register yourself.
  • Log in and fill in the application form with correct details.
  • Upload the required scanned documents.
  • Click on ‘submit’.

Offline mode-

The application form of the M.Sc course must be filled offline by following the steps mentioned below-

  • A student must request for the prospectus and application form by mailing the college administration, or they can even obtain it from the online website.
  • Pay the application fee of INR 500 through NEFT.
  • Once the NEFT is completed, a student must send a mail to the institute mentioning the following details:
    • Name of the student
    • Paid Amount

  • A print out of the filled application form
  • A date-of-birth proof
  • Marksheet and certificate of B.Sc course
  • Two recent passport sized photograph

M.Sc in Food Technology is an inter-disciplinary course which enriches the food industries with extremely qualified food technocrats.Total intake in this course varies but 1 seat is kept free for a candidate from Indian Army. Selection of the candidates to the course is based on their merit in their previous examination. Admission to this program is also done through a National-Level Entrance Examination (Objective type) conducted at Mysore in the month of July. The placement rate of this course is high too. Students have got placed in Food and allied Industries, Institutions or Government Organization through campus counseling and interview.

Eligibility Criteria of PhD in Science

  • A student must have a Bachelor’s degree in medicine or BS or Master’s degree

Eligibility Criteria of PhD in Engineering

  • Candidates must have a valid GATE score or UGC/CSIR NET/NBHM or valid CSIR-SRF or equivalent fellowship
  • Candidates passed in Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology and also have a valid GATE score can apply for PhD in Engineering.

Eligibility Criteria of Direct PhD in Engineering

  • A student must have passed in B. E/B. Tech + GATE / NET (Engineering), or,
  • Passed in B. E/B. Tech + 2-year work experience as PA/SCIR SRF/industrial candidates, or,
  • Passed in B. E/B. Tech or M. Sc and have a National level fellowship or ranked first in university.

Selection Criteria for PhD Admission-

  • Merit of the student in their last qualifying examination
  • Interview

International School of Milling Technology (ISMT) was established during 1981 to serve the requirements of Flour Milling Industry in India and other developing countries with regard to training in flour milling technology. ISMT enjoys the training and expertise of CFTRI with fully dedicated computer controlled pilot roller flour mill, where students are taught milling systems as per the international and Indian subcontinental standards. Students are granted admission based on their merit in their last qualifying examination followed by a difficult Aptitude test or Interview Round.
