Last updated on April 14th, 2021

In a meeting with the Prime Minister, the Education Ministry decided to postpone CBSE Class 12th board exams and cancel Class 10th board exams.

Amid increasing pressure to postpone the CBSE exams for Class 10th and 12th, the Education Ministry decided to postpone the exams for Class 12th and cancel the board exams for Class 10th. CBSE’s offline exams were scheduled to begin on June 4, 2021. However, the Ministry has decided to postpone them in view of the increasing COVID-19 infections in the country.

Further, the Union Education Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, informed that the situation will be reviewed on June 1, 2021 and further decisions about Class 12th examinations will be taken. He also added that a minimum 15 days notice will be given before the start of the examinations. This delay in Class 12th Exams will also impact the dates of JEE Main 2021 and NEET 2021. The May session (Phase 4) of JEE Main 2021 might be postponed accordingly.

Criteria For Result Of Class 10th

Class 10th results will be prepared on the basis of an objective criterion that will be developed by the Board. Further, an option to appear for offline exams when the situation is stable will be offered to the students who are not satisfied with the marks allocated to them.

The decision came after appeals for postponement and cancellation made to the centre by opposition leaders like Arvind Kejriwal, Rahul Gandhi, and others. The meeting was chaired by the Prime Minister, and attended by various top officials like Union Education Minister, Cabinet Secretary, and others. In the meeting, the Prime Minister stated the well being of the students to be the Government’s first priority.

The increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the country might also have an effect on the JEE Main 2021 April session, which is scheduled to be conducted from April 27, 2021 to April 30, 2021. Any update about postponement of JEE Main 2021 April or May session will be notified by NTA on its official website.
