Reservation for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS)

The provision for EWS was incorporated in JoSAA by the participating institutes. It was incorporated after the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

  • With this, the number of seats available, excluding those reserved for the persons belonging to the EWSs, are not less than the total seats available in the academic session immediately preceding the date of the coming into force of the O.M. from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
  •  Instructions regarding reservations in admission to educational institutions will be issued by the Ministry of HRD.

JoSAA is the authority that is set up to conduct the counselling for the admission in 87 engineering colleges including NITs, IITs, IIITs, GFTIs, state colleges and other colleges. Some private colleges conduct their individual counselling for the admission to the engineering courses.
