CSAB SFTI Counselling 2020: Check Counselling Dates and Process

What is CSAB SFTI? After JoSAA counselling, the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) starts conducting their seat allocation procedure. CSAB 2020 Counselling is conducted for two categories of colleges. It is conducted for Self Financing Technical Institutes (SFTIs) to admit the aspirants to engineering and architecture courses. Thus, this process is named CSAB SFTI Counselling.

  1. The seat allotment process of the candidates depends on the JEE Main 2020 All India Rank (AIR) in Paper 1, 2 or 3. There are a total of 34 SFTIs, which participated in the CSAB SFTI counselling process previously.
  2. Apart from CSAB 2020 Counselling, another process called CSAB NEUT Counselling is conducted for candidates of North East and Union Territories who are allotted certain reserved seats.
  3. CSAB was Central Counselling Board (CCB) before 2013. Over the decision of a joint counseling procedure, JoSAA was set up. The role of CSAB is limited to counselling of specific institutes only.

Important: Due to minimum participation from the SFTIs during CSAB SFTI counselling 2019, the counseling won’t be conducted for the year 2020-2021.

  • The candidates need to pay a fee of INR 21000 through e-challan for the registration.
  • Seat allocation depends on the JEE Main Cut Off or CSAB SFTI Cutoff, apart from the candidate’s choice of preferences.
  • Aspirants must download the ‘Provisional Seat Allotment Letter’ from the Official website of CSAB SFTI i.e csab.nic.in
  • After CSAB SFTI, the students must carry the required documents to the allotted institutes for verification and to complete all the formalities. The documents list is given below in this article.
  • If you fail to attend college after CSAB SFTI counseling, your allotted seat will be cancelled.

Schedule For CSAB 2020 Special Rounds

Usually, if there are vacant seats after JoSAA Counselling, CSAB conducts special counselling in two rounds for NIT+ system i.e. NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. This ensures all the seats are filled completely.

Academic Qualification Required for CSAB SFTI 2020

  • The aspirants must submit the scores of JEE Main paper 1 (B.Tech applicants)/Paper 2 (B.Arch aspirants)/Paper 3 (B.Plan aspirants).
  • A rank in JEE Main and 75% aggregate marks in 12th are required.
  • 75% marks in aggregate along with JEE Main qualification in Paper 2 is required for B. Arch. candidates.
  • 75% marks in aggregate along with JEE Main qualification in Paper 3 is required for B. Plan. candidates.
  • Candidates must have the qualified marks in at least five subjects of 12th class.

Pre-Allotment Steps of CSAB SFTI 2020

The candidates must complete the pre-allotment steps. This is mandatory before enrolment for CSAB SFTI rounds. Check the steps below-

Registration

  • Aspirants must visit the official website of CSAB and register themselves with JEE Main Roll Number.
  • Make the initial registration fee payment of INR 21000 by e-challan at State Bank of India.
  • Take a print out of the e-challan receipt and keep it with you.
  • Verify their personal information while registering online.
  • Aspirants can modify details like Eligibility, State, Gender, category during the time of registration.

Steps of CSAB SFTI Allotment ProcedureCSAB SFTI 2020 Seat Allotment Procedure

Follow the below mentioned step-by-step allotment procedure for CSAB SFTI 2020:

Step 1: Payment of Initial Fee

Before you complete the payment procedure, the candidates should download the e-challan and deposit INR 21000. The amount is refundable.

  • Visit csab.nic.in
  • Download the format of the e-challan
  • Submit the credentials with correct details
  • Visit the nearby SBI branch to complete the payment.

Step 2: Choice Making and Locking

The registration and the choice making steps will be enabled for six hours after fee payment.

  • If the aspirants get the confirmation, they can later get access to colleges/institutes and the corresponding courses.
  • Candidates are advised to submit or lock the list before the mentioned timeline. Otherwise, your last preferences will be considered as the final choice.
  • After the completion of the third round of seat allotment, you can change your preferences in the third stage.
  • The candidates who surrendered previous seat allotment due to dissatisfaction will be allowed for the final round of counselling
  • In case of an inability to register during the previous round counselling, the aspirants can go for the Spot counselling process. It will be held in September, last week.

Step 3: Seat Allocation and Document Verification

The seat allocation process will let you know about the enlisted college/institution for the counselling process. You have to prepare for the document verification process.

  • The seat allocation process is conducted on the basis of All India Rank in JEE Main or merit list in addition to the choice of preferences of the candidates.
  • The desired college/institute will receive a Provisional Seat Allotment letter from the Board.
  • Candidates must download and take a print out of the document to carry along with other verified documents to the reporting centres as mentioned in the letter.
  • After the verification, a Provisional Admission Letter will be issued by the board.

Step 4: Allotment of Seats and Report to the Allotted Colleges

  • The candidates need to go to the official website for checking the seat allotment
  • Download the ‘Provisional Seat Allotment Letter’ when you go online
  • Seat allotment is dependent upon the online choice of filling and on the merit list of the candidates.
  • Some seats of the institutes will be occupied for the reserved category. Moreover, the availability of seats of the colleges/institutes is varied based on the respective branch.
  • After completion of the seat allotment process, the students should report and submit the required documents to the allotted institutes.
  • Candidates failing to report to the allotted institute within the projected deadline will lose their candidatures. In that case, they will not get the registration fee return under the no refund policy of CSAB.

How to Check CSAB Special Round Results?

The CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board) declares its Special round counselling results on its official website. Candidates must visit the official website to check the results as well as CSAB opening and closing rank for the first round of special vacant seats. Aspirants must follow the below-mentioned steps to check the CSAB special round results:

  1. Visit the official website at csab.nic.in
  2. Candidates must login using their JEE Main Application Number and Password.
  3. After entering the information, click on the submit button
  4. Check the result displayed on the screen.

Documents Verification Process for CSAB SFTI 2020

For CSAB SFTI 2020, the candidates should carry some self-attested copies of the original documents:

  • Provisional Letter of seat allotment
  • E-Challan receipt from SBI
  • Admit card of JEE Main 2020
  • One passport size photograph of the candidates
  • Photo ID Proof
  • Mark sheet of class X as proof of date of aspirant’s name and date of birth
  • Marks sheet of class XII
  • If you have a category certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL), you should carry it with you
  • The disabled candidates also need to bring PWD certificates
  • Do not forget to carry a self-attested print out of locked choices and other terms, rules, and regulations from the CSAB website.

With JoSAA handling the counselling of major states and territories, few seats in JEE Main Participating Colleges are often left vacant. These are more likely in the North Eastern States and Union Territories (NEUT). Thus, to fill these engineering seats, MHRD conducts a separate counselling called CSAB NEUT Counselling. It also conducts CSAB 2020 Counselling for some other self-funded colleges, which is called CSAB SFTI Counselling

  • Meanwhile, the aspirants from 12 North Eastern States & Union Territories (namely Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep), take part in CSAB Supernumerary Rounds.

Eligibility Criteria For CSAB NEUT 2020 Counselling

Candidates must be also aware of who can apply for CSAB NEUT Counselling and what is the CSAB Eligibility Criteria. Firstly, the candidates must have a valid rank in JEE Main 2020 and All India Rank in Paper 1 or 2 or 3.

Other than this, the applicants who have participated in JoSAA counselling, but were not allocated a seat, are also eligible to take part in the CSAB special round. This round is conducted for different institutes such as NITs, IIITs and GFTIs but CSAB NEUT does not include IITs under it.

  • To take admission for B.Tech or B.E course, the aspirants should have passed class 12th with Mathematics and Physics as major subjects. Along with this, the candidates should also have one of the following subjects such as Technical Vocational/Biotechnology/Biology/ Chemistry.
  • Further, if the students want to apply for B.Arch, then they should have a 50% score in PCM combined. They need to get 50% marks at least.
  • Few institutes might ask for NATA scores to students who are applying for B.Arch courses.
  • In addition, the applicants applying for Pharmacy courses must have Physics and Chemistry as a subject in Class 12th. The allotment is done on aggregate marks of class 12th.

Qualifications Recognised for CSAB NEUT Counselling

Candidates must qualify Class 12th boards or a CSAB recognised qualifying exam to appear in CSAB NEUT Counselling. Therefore the qualification considered equivalent to Class 12th boards are mentioned below:

  • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board/University.
  • Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defense Academy.
  • Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
  • Any Public School/ Board/ University examination in India. Or in any foreign country recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

CSAB NEUT 2020 Seat Allotment Procedure

It is necessary for the candidates to understand the entire CSAB NEUT Counselling 2020 for JEE Main Seat Allotment process. Hence, in this regard, follow the below-mentioned steps:

Step 1: Online Registration

Candidates once fulfil the CSAB eligibility criteria as per the basis of All India Ranks in Paper 1, 2 and 3 of JEE, they are required to register themselves at www.csab.nic.in for counselling.

For online registration:

  1. New candidates: To sign in, the aspirants are required to visit the official website, click the ‘Register online’ option and then submit the detailed information such as JEE Main Application Number, Captcha code and Password created while applying for JEE Main 2020. After submitting all the required information, candidates can Sign in.
  2. Already registered: Candidates are just required to provide their JEE Main Application Number and Password and then they can Log in.

CSAB NEUT 2020 Registration

Step 2: Verification of Domicile and Category Certificates by State Centres, Finalizing of Registration

  • For the verification purpose, the applicants are required to provide the verification of:
    1. Score Card,
    2. Admit Card,
    3. Domicile documents,
    4. Photo ID and all other supporting documents.
  • Once done with the verification process, the final registration of the candidates stands completed.

Step 3: How To Fill Choices in CSAB – Locking and Saving?

  • Firstly, aspirants can check the number of available seats according to the eligibility criteria.
  • Thereafter, as per their preferences, the aspirants can enter the number of choices as many as they can.
  • Also, the candidates can reorder their choices, edit the earlier filled choice and add as many choices before locking the final choices.

Note: Students failing to submit the choices within the prescribed time, in that case, their previously filled choices will be taken into consideration.

For B.Tech/B.E., B.Arch and B.Plan students:

  • The combined choice filling is done for all the courses and only 1 seat is allotted based on their preference list, and merit list.
  • In the second round seat allotment process, the candidates can get a seat of higher preferences from the remaining seats. In this regard, they need to deposit the security fee at once.
  • Meanwhile, the aspirants can register their names only once, submit the single list of choices where they can fill as many choices as they can based on the priority.
  • Hence, it increases the probability of getting a seat with a higher preference. For this, performance of paper 1, 2 and 3 in JEE Main will be taken into the account.
  • Finally, the merit list has a strong influence on the seat allotment process and it is published by NTA. Once the merit list is released, the aspirants are allowed to fill their preferences.

For Pharmacy Aspirants:

To register the name and fill the choice, the pharmacy aspirants are required to visit the website and do follow the below-mentioned criteria:

  • Registration: Once you enter the official website, you need to click the ‘Apply’ option and then provide the details like Full name of the candidates, Parent’s name, Date of Birth, Completed Mailing address, Gender, State of Domicile, PWD, category and the aggregated percentage of 12th.
  • Upload your documents: Now, you have to upload the scanned copy of your DOB certificate, PWD status, category (if applicable) and documents supporting the state of domicile.
  • Choice filling: From the provided list, the candidates can enter their choices of preference as many as they can. It is increased with the rising availability of vacant seats. Kindly note it down that the aspirants will be able to check only the name of those institutes in which the domicile state is applicable.
    1. According to the aggregate score of class 12th, the seat allotment process of the candidates can be done.
    2. The candidates can lock their preferences for Architecture, Planning and Engineering.
    3. To complete the process of locking the preferences, the aspirants should enter the details like password. Thereafter they have to confirm the locking by pressing the ‘Lock’ button.
    4. If you forget to press the final ‘lock your choices’ option, then your last submission will be considered as final. Do not forget to take the print out of your locked choice.

Step 4: Seat Allotment & Willingness

Seat allotment process is done based on their preferences and the merit list of the aspirants in JEE Main AIR. The candidates can check their result on the official website of CSAB.

To complete the online seat allotment process, the aspirants need to follow the below-mentioned two rounds:

  • First round: In this round, the allotted seat to the candidates and their corresponding result will be displayed which will include the name of the institute and branch.
  • Second round: At the end of the first list, the rest of the available seats will be released. No fresh choice of filling will be made so candidates are advised to fill/modify the choices in the first round itself.

For SC/ST category aspirants, seat allotment will be conducted as per the AIR regulation. If they do not get the seat under the open category, then they will be considered for the reserved category.

Candidates will have three options of willingness to choose from-

  1. Freeze – To confirm a seat and pay seat acceptance without any changes in further rounds
  2. Slide – To confirm a seat and pay seat acceptance, but opt for better seat or better college
  3. Float – To confirm a seat and pay seat acceptance, but also opt for better seat in same college.

Step 5: Online Reporting and Seat Acceptance Payment

  • Once the students complete the seat allotment process, they need to pay the amount of INR 3000 via Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card, UPI or e-challan.
  • This is seat confirmation payment and will be adjusted towards institute fee. 
  • Aspirants will be required to pay the entire course fee directly to the institutions.

Step 6: Reporting at colleges/institutions for final admission

  • If the candidates have satisfaction with the first round and designated institute then they do not need to attend the second round of counselling. Hence, the students must visit their allotted college to enroll their names as per admission schedule.
  • In case of dissatisfaction in the first round, the candidates must wait for the second round. Thus if they participate in the second round, then their first round allotment can be upgraded or remains same, depending on availability.

At the time of reporting, candidates are requested to carry the following documents in original and a set of photocopies:

  • CSAB NEUT Allotment Letter
  • JEE Main 2020 Admit Card
  • JEE Main 2020 Scorecard
  • 5 Passport size photographs
  • Photo ID Proof
  • Class X Marksheet
  • Class XII Marksheet
  • Demand draft/NEFT Receipt in favour of the allotted college for the fee
  • Migration Certificate
  • School/College leaving certificate

CSAB NEUT 2020 Reservation

The Ministry of Human Resource Development coordinates allocation of seats by CSAB NEUT 2020. At MHRD specified colleges, the reservation of seats is decided as per the policy of the respective state/UT. Aspirants can check their state-wise category for CSAB NEUT Counselling to check the eligibility criteria for CSAB NEUT counselling process.

Payment and Refund of Fees in CSAB NEUT Counselling

  • The aspirants should submit a security deposit of INR 3000 in the form of demand draft.
  • Issue must be in favour of CSAB NEUT.
  • This amount is refundable to candidates.

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is the conducting authority for JEE Advanced Counselling 2021 and seat allocation. It is conducted as a centralized counselling procedure for Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). JoSAA allots seats to candidates in IITs according to their All India Ranks scored in JEE Advanced. Eligibility Criteria for JEE Advanced Counselling

JEE Advanced 2021 Counselling will take place in June-July 2021 (tentative). Candidates who fulfil the below eligibility conditions will be able to participate in the JEE Advanced 2021 Counselling.

  1. First, the candidate must have a valid rank in the Common Rank List of JEE Advanced 2021.
  2. To take part in the JEE Advanced 2021 Counselling, it is necessary for the candidates to attain the qualified rank in JEE Advanced 2021.
  3. Candidates are required to score at least 75% marks in class 12th (or equivalent) exam. For candidates belonging to SC/ST, PwD category, 65% marks in 12th standard are compulsory.

The JEE Advanced Counselling process is divided into 4 steps. Let us take a detailed look at these steps.

Step 1 – Registration for JoSAA 2021 Counselling

  • Candidates will first have to register for the JEE Advanced 2021 Counselling process, which will be organized by JoSAA.
  • Candidates have to use their JEE Main Registration Number and details to register at JoSAA website.
  • After checking all the previously filled information, the candidates will have to confirm it again.

Step 2 – Filling and Locking of Choice

  • Candidates have to choose the college and course of their choice from the given options.
  • In online JoSAA Counselling, choices can also be rearranged until final choices are selected.
  • Candidates can select a maximum of 50 choices.
  • Once the candidates are sure of their choice, they have to lock it.
  • If candidates do not lock the choices, it will automatically get locked on the last date.

Some Important Points for Reporting at Zonal Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)

  • If a candidate does not report at Zonal Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) which is their JEE Advanced 2021 counselling centre before the last date, his/her seat will be forfeited.
  • Candidates who are offered any upgraded seat have to give up their previous allotted seat.
  • Payment of the fee is possible through any of the acceptable modes such as internet banking, credit card/debit card, UPI or e-challan.
  • The applicants must also upload the scanned copy of the marksheet of class 12th at the online portal.
  • Once the candidate is allotted a seat in any of the 7 rounds, he/she has to report to the zonal Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) to confirm the allotted seat. Provisional Allotment Letter will mention the last date and time for reporting.

JEE Advanced (JoSAA) Counselling: Provisional Admission

  1. To allow only eligible candidates for admission, colleges provide provisional admission.
  2. After the final reporting at Zonal Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), institutes issue final allotment letter.
  3. This allotment letter will grant the provisional admission to the candidate.
  4. But, this admission is subject to verification of documents and certificates.
  5. The college cancels the admission if a candidate provides false information.
  6. So, make sure to provide all the correct information only.

What is JoSAA Counselling 2020?

The Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) established the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) in 2016.

  • It was established so that managing, conducting the counselling and allocation of seats to the eligible candidates for JEE Main and JEE Advanced can be streamlined.

  • Currently, 110 colleges will take part in the JoSAA Counselling 2020.
  • Hence, JoSAA Counselling 2020 streamlines the seat allotment process for admissions to more than 30,000 undergraduate engineering seats.

Options on Seats Allotted in JoSAA Counselling 2020

There are some other options available for the students as well which include Freeze, Float, and Slide Options in JoSAA Counselling 2020-

  • Firstly, the freezing option, for those individuals who accept the allotted seats and don’t want to take part in the next counselling rounds.
  • Second, the floating option will be accepted by the students who accept the allotted seats but wish to get admission to a better preference.

JEE Main counselling 2021 involves the following steps:

JEE Mains Counselling 2020

Step 1 – Online Registration

  1. Visit the official website.
  2. Click on the link of JoSAA.
  3. Login using JEE Main 2021 Application Number, Password and Security Pin.
  4. Next, go through the instructions and click on “I agree”.
  5. Then, fill in the necessary details on the JoSAA Counselling form.
  6. Select the declaration and submit.
  7. Lastly, verify the details mentioned and click on the “Confirm Registration” button.

Step 2 – Online Choice Filling and Locking

  1. Select the choice of JoSAA colleges and courses.
  2. Candidates can choose one of the following options from change/ edit/ delete their filled choices.
  3. Lock the choices before the last date.
  4. Choice locking can be done after each round of JEE Main Counselling 2021.

Step 3 – Seat Allotment

There are many factors on the basis of which JoSAA will allocate the highest possible seat to the candidates according to their choices. The factors on the basis they do this are:

  1. Candidate’s category (General, OBC-NCL, ST, etc.).
  2. All India Rank (AIR) in JEE Main 2021 Rank Lists.
  3. Also, seats available under different seat categories/ seat quotas for which candidates are eligible.

Step 4 – Payment of Fees and Seat Acceptance

Post the seat allotment, candidates will have to choose any one of the following options:

  2. Float: Those who want to keep the allotted seat but wish to upgrade their seat, may choose this option.

JoSAA Cut Off Ranks 2021 (Expected)

Opening and Closing ranks of various rounds of JoSAA Counselling 2021 for participating institutes such as – IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs have not been released yet. Given below are the expected cut off ranks taken from the 2020 final cut offs-

Class 12 and Equivalent Examinations

Exams that will be accepted for JEE Main counselling 2021 are as follows.

  • They must have given the final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by The Central or State Board recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) should organize the exam.
  • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a Board or University which has received recognition by the Association of Indian Universities.
  • Senior Secondary School Exam conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
  • Final examination of the two-year course of the National Defence Academy’s Joint Services Wing.
  • Any Public School, Board or University examination in India or in a foreign country which has received recognition as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the AIU.
  • H.S.C. vocational examination.
  • A diploma recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) or a State Board of Technical Education of at least 3 years duration can be taken into consideration.
  • Any General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London, Cambridge or Sri Lanka) of Advanced (A) level.
  • High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva will be considered.

JoSAA 2021 Seat Allotment in IIT

The rules for the seat allocation of different category students to specific courses are different. The details of those courses and student category are mentioned below:

DS (Defence Service) students

De-reservation of Unfilled category seats under JoSAA Counselling 2021-

  • In IITs, two seats will be allocated to DS category students.
  • He/she must be in the Common Rank List (CRL).
  • Such students will be included under their birth category along with the DS category.

Foreign Candidates

  • Foreign Candidates will be considered under the GEN category.
  • Also, they must be in the CRL. They are obligated to fulfil all the requirements of eligibility for the GEN category.
  • Seats allocated to them will have the provision of being supernumerary. This will be 10% of the total number of seats.
  • The foreign candidates will not be considered under JoSAA counselling.

Preparatory Courses

  • In case no more applicants in the CRL-PwD rank list have opted for it, unfilled OPEN-PwD seats will be allocated to applicants in the CRL-PwD preparatory rank list.
  • OBC-NCL-PwD seats that remain unfilled will be allocated to applicants in OBC-NCL-PwD preparatory rank list. This will happen if no more applicants in the OBC-NCL-PwD rank list have opted for it.
  • The SC-PwD seats that remain unfilled will be allocated to applicants in the SC-PwD preparatory rank list. This will happen in case no more applicants in the SC-PwD rank list have opted for it.
  • Unfilled ST-PwD seats will be allocated in the ST-PwD preparatory rank list.
  • SC seats remaining vacant will be allocated to applicants in the SC preparatory rank list.
  • The remaining unfilled ST seats will be allocated to applicants in the ST preparatory rank list. This will happen in case no more applicants in the ST rank list have opted for it.
  • Remaining OBC category seats will be de-reserved. Also, will be considered as OPEN category seats in every round of seat allocation.
  • Therefore, there will be no de-reservation for SC/ST category seats.

JEE Main 2021 Spot Counselling

  • There are vacant seats left even after the usual rounds of JEE Main counselling. Therefore, JoSAA conducts Spot Counselling for the allocation of such seats.
  • You do not have to register separately for the spot counselling round in JEE Main.
  • Any applicant appears for the spot counselling process if he/she were not allotted a seat.
  • Also, candidates who did not apply earlier for the usual rounds of allotment can appear for Spot Counselling.
  • But, candidates who have missed the registration for JEE Main Counselling earlier have to register for Spot Counselling.
  • Candidates applying fresh for the JEE Main Spot Counselling will have to lock the choices.
  • Additionally, they will have to make the payment of the fee before the last date.

CSAB NEUT 2021 Counselling is for admission of JEE Main 2021 qualified candidates in the participating institutes falling under the North Eastern States and Union Territories (NEUT).
