BITSAT 2020 : Application, Eligibility, Exam Dates, and Syllabus

BITS Pilani organizes BITSAT, a national level exam conducted to grant admission to the eligible students in Integrated First Degree programs at BITS campuses in Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad. The application date for BITSAT 2020 Application has been released and the students planning to take the exam can start applying online. The forms will be available till March 31, 2020 for BITSAT which will be held online from May 16 to 25, 2020 in India and abroad.

For applying for this exam, the candidates must have passed 12th from a recognized institute with at least 75% marks in PCM/B and at least 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Maths/Biology individually. The candidates taking the test are allowed to select their preferred exam center, date and timings using the slot booking portal. The slot booking portal will be available from April 10 to 18, 2020.

BITSAT 2020 Registration

The below-mentioned BITSAT exam registration details will help the candidates in having a better understanding:

  • The candidates have to visit the official website to start with the registration.
  • The application process for BITSAT 2020 has already started from January 11, 2020.
  • Fill accurate personal and academic details so that your unique application number can be generated.
  • Now upload the scanned Images. The candidates must keep in mind that the size of the image ranges between 4 KB to 50 KB (for photograph) and 1 KB to 30 KB (for signature)
  • After that, the candidates have to pay the application fees. The payment of application fees is different for the male, female candidates and NRI candidates.
  • The candidates can make the online application payments through their credit card/debit card or by net banking as well. The offline payments can be made through a bank challan.
  • The candidates are advised to keep a soft copy of the submitted application form.

BITSAT 2020 Eligibility Criteria

The below-mentioned information will guide the candidates in knowing more about the eligibility criteria of BITSAT 2020 before filling the application form.

  • The students applying for BITSAT 2020 must have scored at least 75% aggregate score in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in their 10+2 level.
  • The candidates opting for Biology must have a total of 75% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology while the individual marks in each subject should not be less than 60%.

Eligibility Criteria for the candidates applying for B.E. (Hons.), M.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. (Tech.) Programs –

  • The candidates must have completed class 12th examination from a recognized board and must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as the main subjects.
  • Also, they must have secured a combined score of 75% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects.

Eligibility Criteria for B. Pharm (Hons.) Programs –

  • The students who have completed class 12th examinations with a minimum of 75% aggregate marks are eligible for the exam.
  • The students must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as the main subjects in Class 12th.

Note: The candidates who have passed class 12th in 2020 or 2019 only are allowed to take the BITSAT 2020 examination.

BITSAT Admit Card 2020

The applicants for the BITSAT 2020 exam can download admit cards by visiting the official website for the same. The admit card will be made available from April 10 – May 12, 2020. The candidates will get the admit card through online mode as there is no other procedure to get admit card. The candidates must log in with application number, date of birth and e-mail ID to download the admit card from the official website.

  • The hall ticket includes the information related to the candidate’s name, photograph and signature, the application number, test center, timings and date of the test, Date of exam, test slot and exam instructions.
  • Use your Unique Application Number, DOB and Email ID to download the admit card.


In case of any discrepancy or incorrect information in BITSAT Admit Card, the candidates are suggested to inform the conducting authority on time regarding the same so that a new admit card with the right information can be provided to the candidates.

BITSAT 2020 Exam Centers

The exam will be conducted in 50 cities all over India and an International center in Dubai, UAE as well. The candidates are allowed to choose a maximum of 3 exam centers of their preference in India while the candidates taking the test in Dubai center have to select Dubai center only as there are no other preferences.

BITSAT 2020 Slot Booking

The candidates taking the BITSAT exam can start booking the slots from April 10 – 18, 2020 online. The candidates can select their preferred test date and timings of the test and the slot booking will be offered on a First Come First Serve basis, so the candidates are advised to begin with the process at the earliest. The candidates who have not booked the slot for BITSAT will be offered slots by the institute and once the booking of the slots gets completed, admit cards will be issued to the students.

How to book BITSAT Slots?

  • Login using unique application number and DOB.
  • Select an exam center.
  • Then, select a test date and a test slot.
  • After that, submit the details.

BITSAT Correction Form

The candidates applying for the BITSAT exam are allowed to correct and make changes in their application form from April 1 to 6. The corrections can be made only in the case of any errors that happened at the time of filling the form. The candidates can make the changes online only by visiting the official website of BITS admission. The candidates can log in to the correction window and make changes in their application form and update the correct details before the deadline.

BITSAT 2020 Exam Pattern

The candidates applying for BITSAT 2020 must have sufficient information about the exam pattern so that it becomes easier for them to crack the exam.

  • Mode of the exam: The exam will be conducted online
  • Total Time: The time limit of the exam is 3 hours
  • Total Questions: A total of 150 questions will be asked in the exam
  • Nature of Questions: The exam will have objective type questions only
  • Marking Pattern: The candidate will get 3 marks on each right answer
  • Negative Marking: 1 mark will be deducted in case of a wrong answer
  • Paper Section: Physics, Chemistry, Maths/Biology, English & Logical Reasoning

Important Note: If a candidate attempts all 150 questions before 3 hours, he/she will get 12 more questions to increase their respective scores.

BITSAT 2020 Results

To know the exam results online, the candidates need to adhere to the following steps:

  • First of all visit BITS official website.
  • Then select “Online Result for BITS 2020”.
  • After that enter your name, unique application number, DOB and roll number and submit
  • Candidates will be able to see their online scorecard for BITSAT 2020 on the screen.
  • Download/Print the scorecard for subsequent future.

BITSAT Cutoff 2020

BITSAT 2020 cutoff is the score which the candidates must secure to get selected for admissions at the different campuses of BITS. The students planning to get admissions through BITSAT 2020 have to score equal to or greater marks than the cutoff of the exam. Post the exam is conducted, the authorities will announce the branch-wise cutoff and candidates scoring fewer marks than the cutoff will not be eligible for admission to the preferred course. Cut-off might vary year to year. Below is a chart for expected cut-offs for admissions in courses of various colleges. Maximum score is 450.

BITSAT Counselling Procedure

The candidates receiving the call for admission need to go through a separate registration process as well. The admission form for the same will be available on the official website from June 2020 onwards. Documents that need to be submitted are given below.

  • In addition to the admission form, the candidates must submit the details of their 12th marks and preference of courses.
  • The admission form has to be sent at the right address along with the attested copies of class 10th and 12th marksheet latest by June 2020.
  • The counselling process will be done in 5 stages.
  • In case two candidates have scored the same scores, then the one who got more marks in Mathematics/Biology will be given preference at the time of allotting the seats.
  • There is also an option of direct admissions which will be provided to those students who have obtained the first position in their respective State/Central board exams, no matter what their BITSAT 2020 score is.
  • BITSAT 2020 does not offer any reservations.

BITSAT 2020 Preparation Tips

  • The first step to start preparing for the BITSAT exam is to get the relevant study material and start preparing accordingly. The students must learn the concepts of each topic in a more elaborate way.
  • Start practising with the time of a timer, so that you can learn to finish the entire exam within the allotted time only.
  • Thoroughly revise each topic and focus on your weak areas along with repetitive practice of strong topics.
  • Rather than focusing on solving more question papers, it’s important that you understand the pattern correctly.
  • The candidates must take mock tests as they help recognize the strengths and weak areas that need more attention.

What are the Scholarships Available?

There are many types of scholarships which the candidates can be offered in case he/she matches the eligibility criteria. Some of the scholarships which can be offered to the candidates include:

  • Board Toppers – The candidates who hold the top 3 positions in class XII in their respective boards will be offered a merit scholarship of 100%, 75% and 50%. The scholarship amount will be adjusted towards the first-semester tuition fee.
  • Merit in Competitive Examinations – The candidates who have appeared in NEET or JEE-Advanced to get admission to engineering programs, will be provided scholarships. The amount of the scholarship ranges from 25%-75% and will be utilized towards paying the first-year tuition fee depending on the score secured in the examination.
  • Merit in Qualifying Examination – Students who score 90% or above can avail scholarship of 20% utilized towards first-semester tuition fee. Similarly, students who score 80% or above but less than 90% can avail 15% scholarship utilized towards first-semester tuition fee.
