Metallurgical Engineering is a core and one of the most interesting branches of an Engineering programme that deals with processing of metals and how we can transform metals to make a new thing. Basically, it is a four-year Course in Engineering field.

  • In the B.Tech in Metallurgical Engineering Course, students will study metal including their mechanical and physical behaviour along with Thermodynamics and kinetics subjects, glasses, semiconductors, polymers.
  • This course will teach the students how to deal with Alloys, metal Material, Chemical material or simple metal.
  • After completing this course, students get a chance to be placed in big industries that deal with a large number of alloys, Iron and Steel materials to make some products. And in India many industries that work with metals like BARC and others recruit the students who have graduated in metallurgical engineering .
  • The mode of admission is through State/ National/ University Joint Entrance Examination such as JEE Main or JEE Advanced.
  • Candidates need to have qualified 10+2 with subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

B.Tech in Metallurgical Engineering Admission Process

Most of the Institutes offer an admission in B.Tech in Metallurgical Engineering through a performance of a student in an Entrance exam. But in some of the Institutes, there are two types of admission process, which are mentioned below .

1) Direct Entrance:

  • In the direct admission process, candidates get admission on the basis of their 12th Standard’s performance and marks. Colleges directly make a category wise cut-off based on student’s marks in Higher Secondary School .

2) Entrance Exam Based:

  • Some Institutes conduct a particular exam as an entrance for the students .
  • Apart from it, National Level exams are also conducted as a part of an admission process like JEE Main and JEE Advance, BITSAT Etc.
  • Now, in order to give an entrance exam, a student has to do an application online with payment of an exam fee .
  • Now after the completion of an entrance exam, the Selection procedure involves three rounds.
    • Shortlisting:- After declaration of results of JEE main, students will be shortlisted according to their marks in Entrance exams .
    • Personal Interview:- Now, shortlisted candidates will be called by JOSAA for an interview round. Students will be selected on the basis of good interview skills and other facts.
    • Selection:- At last, students who clear the interview will get admission in a particular institute or particular branch .
