NITUK offers 5 specialisations under its B.Tech courses. Candidates aspiring to get admitted in the B.Tech shall have to appear for JEE Main examination. Once a candidate appears for the JEE Main and qualifies the minimum JEE Main Cut Off, she/he will have to apply for JoSSA counselling.

Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech
To be eligible for NIT Uttarakhand admissions, a candidate must
- Pass 10+2 or equivalent with 75% marks with Physics, Chemistry, and Maths as their main subject. For SC/ST candidates the minimum aggregate is 65%.
- However, this criteria has been scrapped for 2020 admissions and students are just required to pass Class XII.

NIT Uttarakhand: Academics During COVID-19
The situation right now has become hideous and online has become the new normal. The college announced the suspension of classes in the month of March and it remains shut till now.
- The institute instructed all the faculties to conduct online classes. All the students were provided with proper study material and assignments.
- Emergency services such as ambulance, housekeeping and security of the institute to function as usual.
- Any student facing discomfort due to the loss of laboratory sessions, he/she shall compensate for the loss by using Virtual Lab facilities.
- The institute doesn’t permit faculty members, Trainee Teachers, Officers and Staff members to attend the Conferences, Workshops and any sort of Short Term Courses at college. All these are now being conducted online only.
- Students were advised to use the lockdown period wisely and work on the submission of assignments, 100% participation in exams and classes.
The institute instructed the faculties to prepare a technically standard presentation during the online classes. The faculties shall be available through phone or email to clarify any doubt put forward by students.
