9.21 Lakh Candidates Applied for the JEE Main 2020 January Exam

JEE Main 2020 Registration for January session closed on Oct 10, 2019. The online CBT (Computer Based Test) exam for JEE Main 2020 Jan session would be held in between of Jan 6, 2020 and Jan 11, 2020. Over 9.21 lakhs aspirants have registered for JEE Main 2020 January exam.

In case, any candidate has made any errors in his/her application form, JEE Main Correction Window was active from Oct 11, 2019 to Oct 17, 2019. Candidates may avail this one-time facility and edit the details correctly at nta.ac.in or jeemain.nic.in.

Although the dates of JEE Main 2020 January session are coinciding with the XII class students’ practical board exam, it did not reflect much in the number of applications received from students by NTA.

NTA Positive About New JEE Main System

From 2019.NTA started conducting JEE Main in two slots: January and April, the organization was expecting somewhere around 6 lakh registrations for January session. But to their surprise, the number of applicants turned out to be unexpectedly 9.21 Lakhs. Well, the new conducting authority is looking at it as a good sign as according to them, students have welcomed the decision of conducting the exam twice a year completely in online mode for the first time since its inception.

Other than this, NTA has set up more than 3400 test practice centers across the country to assist students in preparation of JEE Main 2020 which has also been appreciated very much by students.

As per the report, female applicants are just 2.8 lakhs while applications from male candidates are 6.3 lakhs. Moreover, 4 transgenders have also applied for JEE Main 2020 January session.

However, when compared to the registrations of the previous year, which were around 12 Lakhs, this year, the number of applicants has decreased by almost 2.5 lakhs. The decreased number of registrations may be understood with the fact that just after three months of JEE Main 2020, candidates would face their board exams.

Moreover, those candidates who are not appearing in the January slot would be provided with an opportunity of appearing in April slot for the same exam and those who already took the exam in January may also reappear for JEE Main in April. Higher score would be considered valid at the time of admissions.

JEE Main is the most important exam for any engineering aspirant. It is also considered as a qualifying exam for JEE Advanced on the basis of which the student gets admitted to the 23 IITs. Apart from this, candidate may seek admission into IIITs, NITs and CFTIs.

JEE Main rank is used for admissions in various state level institutions in Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland and Uttarakhand. Admit cards for JEE Main 2020 was be released on Dec 6, 2019 on official website of JEE Main i.e. jeemain.nic.in. Here are the steps to download your hall ticket.

  • Visit the official website.
  • Login using your credentials (ID and password).
  • Admit card will get displayed.
  • Download the admit card.
